    Favourite Holiday Music

    Like This Thread!
With only 7 days till Christmas, I thought I'd ask everyone what their favourite holiday music was.

At the moment, my favourites are the Christmas songs from Card Captor Sakura, Sailor Moon, and Wedding Peach; the CCS songs being the ones I like best - esp. the songs Maria no Komoriuta ("Lullaby of Mary"?), Yorokobi no Carol (not sure what the title means), and Morobito Kozoride ("Joy to the World").

Clint Black's Christmas songs from his album "Looking for Christmas" are also really good. I don't have a copy yet, but I saw it on sale at Wal-Mart, and will likely grab a copy soon. One cute song from that is "Til' Santa's Gone (Milk And Cookies)."

I also recently got the new Windham Hill CD, "A Winter's Solstice - Silver Aniversary Edition." I've heard the past compilations are really good, and thought I'd give this one a try. I haven't listened yet, but as soon as I do, I'll post back here with my thoughts.

Okay, now it's your turn - what holiday music are you listening to?

    Re: Favourite Holiday Music

None, really, but I love caroling with my friends. I don't really like repetitive stuff like "Silent Night", but I like "O Holy Night" and "What child is this." "Let it snow" is also fun with your friends, but it's not really a Christmas song- more of a general winter song.

The one Christmas song I will always love is the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Man, are they good. I like fun songs like "All I want for christmas" (although i can't stand mariah carey), "Christmas Time" by backstreet boys, and "Last Christmas" by...i dunno who sings it but i just heard the song and it just made me happy!

Oooh, I LOVE Christmas music, any Christmas music. Except maybe the ones I've been singing since October in my singing group over and over and over again...jingle, tingle, jingle, tingle...every single day for three months...

Anyways, when it come to Christmas music, I like really traditional stuff, religious and secular, all the songs that everyone knows...

    Typical holiday tunes...

-"Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" (latest version I heard: Hugh Jackman's on "Saturday Night Live")
-"Put A Little Love In Your Heart" by Annie Lennox and Al Green
-"12 Days Of Christmas" by Bob and Doug MacKenzie (Take off, eh?)
    -"Christmas In Hollis" by Run-DMC
-New Edition's album "Christmas All Over The World"
-"Christmas Wrapping" by The Waitresses (used in the Animaniacs fanfic "'Have Yourself A Wakko Little Christmas")

    Sincerely,

The only Christmas song I can tolerate: Santa Claus is Coming to Town by Bruce Springsteen. The classic rock station has been playing it lately...very good.

My gym teacher plays Christmas music when she sends us to the Fitness Center (aka the Weight Room).

Christmas music and the Fitness Center makes Fan very unhappy.

    "Santa Baby" by Madonna

    Before she sold out and became a borderline-anorexic, dried-up, unwed-motherhood-glorifying, tattooed, guttermouthed, pseudo-Brit-speaking bad-remake-of-"American Pie"-performing [expletive deleted], I mean.

Also Weird Al Yankovic's "The Night Santa Went Crazy", Ray Steven's "Santa Claus Is Watching You" (both versions), Jeff Foxworthy's "Redneck 12 Days of Christmas", and "Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer".

A lot of the Christmas songs I like are one some of you probably have never heard of.

"Merry Christmas Baby"-don't know who originally did it.
    "This Christmas"-Donny Hathaway
"Backdoor Santa"-don't know who originally did it,but Bon Jovi did a cover.
    "Christmas in Hollis"-Run DMC

Crap...I'm currently burning a custom Holiday CD as stocking stuffers, and I could have used some of these!

I normally can't stand Christmas songs--most people and radio stations think that they begin and end with Bing Crosby--but I have a soft spot for some. Here's a rundown (I have the CD label here):

Danny Elfman - The whole Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack

Tori Amos - The Happy Worker, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, and Little Drummer Boy

    Smashing Pumpkins - Christmastime

Run DMC - Christmas in Hollis

South Park - O Holy Night (the first version with the cattle prod), the whole Mr. Hankey's Christmas Classics album

No Doubt - Oi to the World

Spinal Tap - Christmas With the Devil

Jill Sobule - Merry Christmas From the Family

Adam Sandler - The Chanukah Song

Enya - Oiche Chiun (Silent Night)

Cranberries - Ave Maria (with Luciano Pavarotti)

Trans Siberian Orchestra - Christmas Eve Sarajevo

Weird Al Yankovic - Christmas at Ground Zero
