David Bowie's "I'm Affraid of Americans" comes to mind. Not that I'm "affraid" of Americans. But, I feel that the American culture is to self-centered and focuses to much on material possessions, style, and bravado.

And that Billy Joel song; "I don't care what they say anymore, this is my life, go ahead with your own life leave me alone."

I can Identify with a lot of Incubu's music as well; "Redefine," "Nowhere Fast," "Drive."

    I Wish You Were Beer.

Actually I just wanted to play on words "I Wish You Were Here" by Incubus, I think.

Oooh - what a great track... Good choice!

My 'anthem' or 'theme tune' is, and always will be 'The Mayor of Simpleton' by XTC (anybody here even heard of them..?)

    Never been near a university,
Never took a paper or a learned degree,
And some of your friends think that stupid of me,
But it's nothing that I care about,

And I can't unravel ridles, problems or puns,
How the home computer has me on the run,
And I may be the mayor of Simpleton,
    But I know one thing,
    And that's I love you.
It's a great song, and, as always, I dedicate it to my lovely wife...

    The name--

--of the group escapes me, but the song is "Mr. Vain". "I know what I want, and I want it now! I want you..."
Also Dylan's "Tangled Up in Blue", as I love blue, and I used to be involved with a redhead. I'm currently looking for a "Sad-Eyed Lady of the Lowlands" to love ....

The Yes classic "Owner Of A Lonely Heart". I called up my ex-girlfriend today to see if we could make another go of it, but she got a new boyfriend. (((SIGH))) When I was in college, my anthem was probably Karen Akers' interpretation of "I Fall In Love Too Easily"...I did, and now I have screwed up my chances of finding love...at least for now. If someone can point me in the direction of a good-looking single woman, then let me know.

    Sincerely,

    John "Captain Caps" Kilduff

Another song that comes to mind...

is "On and On" by Stephen Bishop. I most relate to these lyrics:

    "On and on
    He just keeps on crying
And he smiles when he feels like dying
    On and on
    On and on
    On and on"

Probably the most accurate description of how my life is going.

    Sincerely,

    John "Captain Caps" Kilduff

I'll come back w/ more later.
    Optimus:"Well that's just Prime!"
Dinobot:"Negative. The question that has once haunted my being has been answered. The future is not fixed, and my choices are my own. And yet how ironic... for now i have no choice at all. I am warrior. Let the battle be joined."
    Freakazoid:"HUGGBEES!!!"
Duff: Leela!!! Got me on my knees, Leela!!!

The groups called Culture Beat , they're a Euro-house Dance duo.
I use to Dj back in high school and that was one of the most requested songs around the parties especially the Rave remixes of that song!

Oh yeah and optimal321, Lifehouse and Linkin Park are both Awesome Bands! you got great taste in music dude !

    Some have already been mentioned...

'Falling for the First Time' by BNL
'Where Ever You Will Go' by The Calling
    'Honestly OK' by Dido
'Everything' by Lifehouse. I'm currently obsessed with this song. Damn Smallville for having it in their show!

Darn straight! I did a beautiful portrait of Andy Partridge in high school and even did some XTC mini comics back in high school too. One of the best bands ever, IMO.

95% of the songs from Mark Heard's CD Second Hand describe me! One in particular could be my epitath, "It's Not Your Fault."

    I get lonely sometimes
    It's not your fault
I'm a man who follows his own tracks until he's lost
I'll keep on going round and round until I'm found
    I get wounded sometimes
    It's not your fault
I keep on shooting arrows up until they fall
They stall and turn, a narrow miss until I learn

It's not you, I'll be okay, I'm just a jerk is all
It's alright, it's just my foolishness
    It's not your fault

    I get helpless sometimes
    It's not your fault
I just tend to tug on heartstrings til they break
A thug who wins a kiss and misses finer things

    I get angry sometimes
    It's not your fault
I let the molehill simmer like Vesuvius
And hole up in Pompeii until all hell breaks loose

It's not you, I'll be okay, I'm just a jerk is all
It's alright, it's just my foolishness
    It's not your fault.

There is another one Mark Heard wrote called "Sidewalk Solioquy" from his Appalachan Melody album that I identify with very well:

Whenever I venture from my home
Why do I feel so all alone
    People should laugh
    People should love
    I'm in a crowd a hundred strong
    Watching the people walk alone
    Moments of life squandered away

    Maybe it's just a thing
    that I can't understand
Maybe I'm just a much too simple man

Whenever I smile and nod my head
Folks look at me like I was dead
    What can I say
    Where can I run

No one has heard me say hello
They're deaf dumb and blind for all I know
    What can I do
    What can be done

    Maybe I'm just too soft
Too easy to bruise and scar
Maybe I've let my feelings go too far

But if I am wrong to feel this way
Then I am wrong most every day
What can I do what can I say

Once there was One Who spoke of this
He told us why it's like it is
    And we're all to blame
    It's such a shame
I'll try being nicer if you try being smarter.

“If I had to live my life over again, I would treat women worse. The women who I treated nice always turned around and treated me bad and the women who treated me bad didn’t deserve to be treated nice anyway.”
