3 DVDs MAX to fit the whole series?
There is no way they'd be able to fit 21.67 episodes on a single disk, man.
And no, I'm not annoyed... but it would be nice if they started from the beginning.

I would prefer if they released the older Spider Man animated series on DVD. Don't these companies realize the potential market out there for classic animated shows on DVD. Imagine a DVD with five or six episodes of the original 1967 series or even Spider Man and his Amazing Friends or the 1981 solo series. That's cartoon heaven.
P.S. The folks at Cartoon Network should series should really consider putting out Super Friends and their other classic series on DVD. See Rhino's first season Transformers DVD on how to do it right.

While I would love to see the series in Season Box Sets I've been happy with the releases so far. Not only did we get a continuing arc in the first disc (and more than likely in the second) but the extra features on the disc really make it worth picking up. Not only do we get an interview with Stan Lee but the added episode from the 60's series was probably in the best presentation I've ever seen the series in.

I would like to see Disney release this series properly, but I can't see it happening. It's a kid property and Disney will treat it as such. So don't expect anything fancy from these guys....

I mean, I know that the former Saban Entertainment had the rights for Marvel shows and such, but I don't understand how they have them. I mean how come the House of Ideas doesn't have the right to distribute their material any way they want?
Compared to their Distinguished Competition, who basically owns every single media with their characters (with the exception of the Fleischer Superman shorts, but that's because they're in the public domain). Sure, Warner Bros., DC's owners, won't release those shows on a regular basis, but if the right management ever convinced them, they would do it in a heartbeat without hesitation. Just because they don't respect animation there right now doesn't mean that they won't eventually (especially when the demand grows strong enough). I mean, what kind of backwards deal did Marvel sign with Saban back then to give them distribution rights to ALL of their old animated shows that they owned (they didn't own the 60s Fantastic Four, Hanna-Barbera did)?
What does the X stand for? It's definitely not Extreme. Extreme starts with E.
Disney recently bought Fox i believe, or at least Fox family. So they own the rights for Spiderman from Fox, whome aired the entire series.Originally posted by nemalki

Am I right in thinking that "Return of the Green Goblin" has these episodes
Goblin wars
Turning Point
Hobglobin 1+2
60's Green Goblin epiosode?
Personally I would like to see Venom and Carnage on DVD. Due to Neogenic Nightmare being a 13 part story I doubt we will see all of this story arc on DVD. I think the next step in 2003 is a team up DVD. Image all the money Disney can make. Spider-man at one time or another featured Daredevil and X-men bothin 2 part stories and they both have big budget films coming out next year! Money in there pockets! Captain America, Iron Man, Blade, Dr Strange also turned up so Disney are spoilt for Choice. The 6 forgotten Warriors story arc would work well on DVD but it takes up 6 episodes. Iron Man and War Machine turned up fighting Venom and Carnage, Dr Strange had a random episode and Daredevil had his own (High Class!!!) story arc. Gulity and The man without fear could be released on a Kingpin themed DVD. A whole host of other episodes could be on it (Spider Slayers, The wedding, I really, really hate clones, Farewell Spider-man). These are all solid marketing ideas so why are none of them being used?

What episodes would all of you like on DVD?![]()
I think that the deal Marvel had was that Fox would retain the rights to the shows, much like Kids WB has the rights to Static Shock and X-Men Evolution in the US. When Fox acquired the Family channel they started using a lot of the licenses from their Fox Kids block to fill the stations programming. When Disney acquired the channel from Fox they also got all of the rights that went with the station - effectively putting Disney in charge of these properties. As for the old 60's series - I think Disney has the Spidey series but Turner has the rights to Fantastic Four.Originally posted by Jeff Harris

Also the DVD/VHS rights for X-Men TAS currently belong to Universal and shouldn't have been affected by the buying of Fox Family by Disney.

I totally agree. I think that would appeal to the hardcore nostalgia freak and the casual retro viewer. Unlike the 90's version, there are no arcs, so collectors can buy the whole set but the casual purchaser can buy one or two without feeling the need to have to complete the whole thing.Originally posted by Mister Intensity

I talk of myself, of course! I liked the 90's version, but you can't just have a few episodes. It feels incomplete. I COULD own a copy of a few episodes of the original - or 80's version.
Give them time...
Spidey and His Amazing Friends...*drool*. That would be my favourite Spidey release!

Now how the hell did this happen? Does it have something to do with Universal studios? Also the DVD/VHS rights for X-Men TAS currently belong to Universal and shouldn't have been affected by the buying of Fox Family by Disney
I don't think so. Universal bought the VHS/DVD rights a few years ago and pumpe dout some quickie VHS and DVDs for X-Men. Until their contract expires, I think X-Men will remain at Universal.

Television Distribution and Video Distribution rights are very different things. Rarely do the same company own them.
