Question: I don't really read comics very much - but does the Man of Steel actually *have* any metal in his physiology????![]()
i.e. what effect could Magneto actually have on Superman himself?
Magneto
Neither (Draw match)
This is one of those crossover encounters that could be really interesting. The Man of Tomorrow vs. the next evolution.
On the one hand, Superman is, well, Superman. He's forgotten more of his superpowers than most characters will ever have. Speed, strength, eight kinds of vision, he sets the standard.
But I don't know that he can beat Magneto. Magneto could negate the speed by holding Superman in place with the iron in his body. Or he could yank those molecules out and probably kill Superman. The force field would deflect heat vision while Superman is immobilized.
I'm torn. Who do you think would win?

Every living being has at least traces of iron in their blood - I'm sure that the man of Steel would have to have some type of compound in his structure that would resemble iron. I think this could be a draw - depending upon wether Mags realizes that Superman is there or if Supes just goes in and kicks the crub out of Mags.
If mags knows he's there he could attack Supes from the inside out, using his own bodies chemistry against him - if he doesn't, he never gets a chance to defend himself because Superman is quicker than old Mags will ever be.

I know that power of Magneto's has been mentioned a few times, but has he actually ever done it? I don't read comics much, so - does he do it often, or threaten to do it often? I'd imagine he'd already have control of the planet if it was that easy.
As for Superman, as long as its not JL Superman, my bets are on him - I think he's strong and fast enough to negate some of the most powerful gravitational pulls, or magnetic pulls for that matter.
Thats my uneducated guess![]()

He doesn't do that much. A few times I saw him rip some people apart once, I think.

Smallville Episode#1
Magneto would CRUSH Superman so we would never have to see Superman ever again.
Seriously, Magneto could hold him down while having tons of objects flying at him.
Perhaps they should add this into X-Men 2. Have some dude in a jumper with an "S" on him and have Magneto do some damage.
Winner: Magneto.
There's a light in the distance...
I dunno about that whole iron extracted from the body thing. Why doesn't Magneto just do that to everyone that gets in his way? And I didn't know his power was that focused....it feels like there's just more physiology and biology involved in the form of prerequisits before he'd do that.
And I didn't even look at Superman yet. Clark would use his abilities and his powers to find a way, even if it's only for a moment and even if it's only once, to get by Magneto's defenses, because I'm sure Magneto could take punches of Superman caliber for only so long.![]()

I think it would be a good fight, but I can't decide on the winner, and I haven't voted yet. I'll have to get back to you when I think it over more carefully.
If it's normal Magneto: Superman
Hemogoblin pulling out your blood instant kill God Magneto: Mags
If Batman keeps Anti-JLA files does his protégé write Anti-Young Justice recipes in his cookbook?
although superman is called the man of steel, he is really not made of metal; he just has a dense molecular structure that makes him impervious to bullets and such. but as someone else mentioned it, he probably has iron, zinc, etc.

Superman is fast just like Flash so superman would need about a split second to punch magneto in the face and send him to his grave!!!!![]()
I'm assuming Magneto can remove a body's iron molecules because that's essentially how he de-adamantium'ed Wolverine and almost killed him. That is mitigated by the adamantium being both concentrated and a foreign object in the body. In general, Magneto usually doesn't go straight for the kill, so he may just have never gotten around to it.
Superman has red blood, which implies iron for oxygen fixing. I know Magneto has used iron molecules in the blood to immobilize crowds at least twice (once at Colossus' sister's funeral, once when the Avengers invaded that island after he took it over). It's not clear if that would stop Superman completely or just slow him down.

Actually he's done it quite a few times in the past - if I remember correctly he's even killed a man this way before. Magneto is also one of the strongest mutants on the planet - after all it was a combo of Mags and Xavier that created Onslaught - probably the most dangerous threats the Marvel U has ever faced. Magneto was also able to emit a magnetic pulse before he was given Genosha that basically cut out all electrical and computerized equipment on earth - and that wasn't even the most of his power. While I'm a huge Supes fan I really think this fight depends on who strikes first that deems the winner.Originally posted by Nightwing

Seriously though, it'd be a cool fight. Intresting idea for a match-up.

I guess I should point out that only free iron (such as you'd find in alloys) is really affected by magetism by any great amount. Since most the iron in the body is part of a molecule, namely hemoglobin, it wouldn't have much affect because the iron isn't free to align with the magnetic fields. So I guess this particular application of Magneto's power doesn't seem especially realistic to me.
Therefore, Supes would win.
Uh, Superman is the man of steel and Magneto can control all metal. If he controlled and took out Wolverines adamantium and nearly killed him, what do you think he would do to the all steel Superman. poll, you should end it.

Supes would win. Because even if Magneto was tearing his insides, like he was doing to Wolverine in the movie. Supes would just burn him to a crip with his heat vision.![]()
