Well, its not cancelled, per se (they planned and paid for season two, and they're delivering it now); but as Marvel Studios is planning a replacement series, ostensibly set in the USM (and that's not necessarily a bad thing) continuity, I doubt very much if we'll ever see a third season (and that's not necessarily a bad thing).

There will almost always be an audience for a Spider-Man animated series, and an X-universe animated series, even if the quality of said series is a steaming pile of seaweed; the history of both franchises has bred legions of loyal fans who make excuses for any level of quality (or lack thereof); they just want their Spidey and Wolverine fixes.

I can sympathize - I eagerly watch anything with Captain America or the Phantom, even if they are painfully bad!

The Phantom, as in The Ghost Who Walks?
Or another Phantom, that I'm not realizing?

Some rumor regarding the tone of the show. This does not sound good to me. AT ALL

..............Ugh. I really want Loeb to just leave everything relating to Marvel right this instant. This is horrific news.

Weird to see that Dini doesn't like the direction of USM either. I wonder if/when he'll leave the show.

Just read that article. Hulk and the Agents of SMASH a mindless action show? Great....sounds even more worse than USM.

The AgentX guy said that Jeph Loeb wants to prepare kids to become hardcore marvel fans. What is this? Preschool? *facepalm*

After Avengers EMH is over, I'm expecting the Marvel Animation Age board to be dead... sigh..Dini should just flat out leave Marvel Animation and go somewhere that is more promising.

Eh, as long as the voice acting's good, I won't complain too much.

As bad as that article is, this was the worst part:

-As Much as people are complaining about the show, they do not address their complaints to anyone. AgentX believes that if enough people wrote to Marvel and the show producers about how much they hate the show, then chances are higher for the show to be fixed or cancelled and replaced by a better Spider-man show.

This is just lazy. There are plenty of internet forums out there for the show producers to go to do see fan reaction to the show. I've been posting and lurking on Toonzone since its inception and found it to be a great source of fans who care deeply about animation and show appreciation for great work and criticism for substandard products.

Sigh. Another chance to mourn the lost of a third highly regarded Marvel show falling victim to the changes at the top. We better get some sweet Avengers rides at Disney World for this.

If any [or all] of this is true, which I fear it is, we might just be downright losing everything valuable regarding Marvel Animation.

So, if and when that time comes, I can safely say

    R.I.P. Marvel Animation

Well here's the thing. The source has been proven right twice. They're trying the mini-hiatus idea right now and the source was proven right with EMH's cancellation. So there is a chance that the source may be right about Agents of SMASH being a mindless action cartoon that doesn't explore the characters.

You would think that because Loeb isn't writing the productions he wouldn't have so much influence over them.

    Amen, brother, amen.

Hopefully the day will come soon where Marvel someone who won't downgrade animation to preschool level...

Just when Marvel Animation was about to match DC in the animation industry with Spectacular Spidey and Avengers EMH...I guess that opportunity was blown....

That article was garbage and littered with factual inaccuracies and next to no facts at all. The problem with that article is that it writes with a clear bias and fails to back up anything with actual, legitimate sources, data or facts at all. If Avengers is a bonafide hit, well where are the numbers? They aren't out there.

To Kumori MC, I'm sorry but I think you are going a little overboard. Even if the next shows are bad in your opinion what is to say that there will never be good Marvel Animation shows ever again? Did you have that same outlook when Spider-Man Unlimited and Avengers United They Stand hit the airwaves in 1999? I mean while for their time they were alright, the cartoons from the 60's hardly hold up that well in comparison to today's material and 1960's Spider-Man's stiff and awkward dialogue. The fact of the matter is, if things don't work out they won't and more better quality shows could still get made in the future. I hardly see this as the end of quality Marvel Animation as we know it.

Tired of people hiding behind their aliases and cute nicknames. That to me is not good reporting. Just like when ESPN did their little hit piece on the UFC and offered next to no input from legitimate sources and made up fake nonsense and failed to actually corroborate anything.

    Yep.
    Comics
    The '96 movie.
    The Phantom 2040 animated series
The Defenders of the Earth animated series (that had Phantom teamed up with Flash Gordon and Mandrake the Magician)
And the Black and White 1940s film serial.

    I LOVE me some Phantom!

    ............
I agree with most of this, to this extent:
There were some bad shows and some good ones. The FIRST 60s Marvel toons, which were basically the "motion comics" of the day, weren't all that great.
I feel that Spidey and Fantastic Four from the 60s showed great improvement.
Then we had the lame 70s incarnation of the Fantastic Four.
Then the two rather decent Spidey shows and a Hulk show in the 80s.
And while I enjoyed Spider-Man Unlimited, I see the point you're trying to make, especially concerning shows like "Avengers: United They Stand".
So, yeah, even if the next few shows are seen as "bad", it doesn't mean the death of Marvel animation. It's had its and downs from its very inception. And this trend will continue forever.

If Marvel animation is all going to be under the same pathetic umbrella, it may be death. The difference in quality between WATX, SSM (didn't watch it but it has a stellar rep), and AEMH compared to USM is huge.

You mean "may as well" be death, right? Marvel Animation will be around forever no matter how many successes or failures there are.
