I don't usually post in this forum, but I do have something to say about this show.

It's looks like it's going to become another (with all due respect to the fans) "emo" rendition of Spider-Man (a problem I had with the 1990's series). However, I still have hope for it.

I'm going to be honest. I actually hope Gwen Stacy doesn't get killed off in this version. Further, I hope they don't try to dodge the issue by making her "mysteriously disappear" or any bologna like that.

In most cases I hope for an adaptation to be faithful to the source material, but in this case I hope they keep Gwen Stacy alive in this version, and I hope she remains as a regular character (i.e., without the aforementioned "mysterious disappearance" bit).

BTW, when I say "emo", I don't necessarily mean that there are characters who are seen crying...not literally anyway. That said, I mean emo in a more metaphorical sense; in the sense of a show being dark and melodramatic. This way of telleing the story was already done in the 90's version, and I hope that this time, they'll at least try to be different.

One more thing. At the end of every episode, the sky is replaced by a Spider-Man motif. Is this show's way of saying "To Be Continued", or something to that effect?
Cartoons aren't "just for kids"...but they're not just for adults either. They're for everyone.

No, it's an homage to how Ditko and Romita used to end issues of the comic.

Can't be, I feel thats way to early in the series for the Green Goblin to rear his ugly head. It just doesn't make sense. But if they must.

Spider-Man has always had the element of tragedy in his life, his uncle was killed at the very beginning of the comics. I don't see how they can avoid the "dark and melodramatic" elements of Spidey because that's part of a good Spider-Man tale.

Spidey has never been a 100% fun and light-hearted character, that's not to say those elements aren't in there though, but he will always have this tragedy hanging over him.

He's in the first 13 episodes, we've know that since July last year. And when he first appeared in the comics it was in #14, not late in the series.

I do hope that when Gobby appears that Spidey doesn't find out who he is straightaway and do it more like the comics did.

I know it was said he'd be in the first 13 episodes, but episode 7?

I suppose then that it would include Gwen Stacy's death?

I'm sorry, but if they kill off Gwen Stacy (MJW appearance or not), and/or do the "mysterious disappearance" thing I mentioned, then I can no longer condone myself watching this show. "Webhead" may have had tragedy in his life, but I'm actually hoping they won't primarily focus on that like the 1990's version did. After all, no matter how tragic your life may be, there's always hope, right?

OTOH, if they don't kill off Gwen, then when MJ appears, I hope they don't do that predictable "love triangle" bit....

It's still very, very, very early days to say that they'll kill off Gwen.

It's a maybe if we get to see them go to college but even then it all depends.

Strange how Gwen gets this reaction yet Batgirl doesn't get people going "When's she getting shot and becomes Oracle?"

It's all about balance. You seem to want things to go towards the opposite extreme. Spider-Man's light moments are contrasted by the occasional dark moments, and the death of Gwen is a pivotal event in his life.

It's not going to be overly dark, but at the same time, it shouldn't be sunshine and lollipops.

    Hope without tragedy is hollow.

I agree that Gwen's death is pivotal to a true Spider-Man retelling. And I'm currently sick of the "how long till she dies/I hope she doesn't die" comments I keep reading everywhere on the internet.

However I don't think she should die.

I don't want her to die because it would show fans that there's more to her than just her death, which is all she's currently remembered for.

Then again I'm pretty sure that after the shows finished and if GW didn't get to the Gwen death in the series there will be comments like "They couldn't do the death of Gwen 'cause networks wouldn't let them do something that graphic. Lame!" Or something like that.

I think GW could do it very well, and while I don't want them to do it, he's the man I'd trust to do it right. To get the right emotional pitch and have everyone screening at their TVs "NOOOO!" When that happens you know he's got it right because that's how you should feel when Gwen dies.

I still think it's too early to talk about this.

    So how about that Shocker?

I'm reviewing every episode of the '67 Spider-Man series. Am I crazy, or just brave?

I realy realy hope he gets his "vibro-smashers" from The Tinkerer

a downside in my oppinion is that in the comics unlike all the other Spider-man villains who no matter what their original goals always got a vendeta against spider-man which dictated many of their actions, the Shocker was mostly only concerned largely with making a living and protecting his reputation, so he acted more profesionaly, well thats how i saw it.

with Montana becoming Shocker he will surely be one of those "ive turned my life into an ongoing vendeta against spiderman" guys.

i wish they kept Herman Schultz as The Shoker

According to the synopsis, it's another assignment from the Big Man. So, yeah, he's under orders.

And yet, didn't they say something about "condensing the timeline", or something to that effect?
