Where in the World is Luna (San Diego)?
Bad pun is bad, I know but I felt like writing this after reading a few comments in the main MLP discussion thread.
I'm not going to lie when I say that Luna is one of my favorite charactesr but I want to know if I am the only one who feels that its rather ODD that Luna has not appeared in that many episodes since she came 'back' to the series. Granted, when I look at how far season two has gone one, aside from her one minuet appearances dotted throughout episodes..Celestia hasn't appeared that much either, let alone get an episode to HERSELF that really explains how she ruled Equestria by herself. Nonetheless, I find it odd that after all this guff brought up about how Celestia and Luna were back in balance or something since the sisters have come back together, there is rather big IMBALANCE of the sisters being seen together, mentioning each other or the other ponies mention Luna outside of Luna Eclipsed. Heck, wouldn't it have made sense that Luna would actually appear a LITTLE bit in 'The Return of Harmony' since she was a major player in sealing away Discord the first time around (of course, this would have spoiled her new design in the next episode so yeah....) but all she got was a name drop. I would be screaming 'WHAT GIVES?!' when I remembered someone saying that the writers and animators were unprepared to the popularity that Luna would garner and since episodes are done much more far in advanced than we think, they didn't have the exact amount of time to put her in a lot of episodes. That being said, I really, REALLY hope that Luna shows up in the season finale as well as season 3.
Anyone else hoping to see more Luna because I know I am. The poor girl was driven mad from not being appreciated in the past but it seems that history is repeating itself. XD
There is a wall paper where you can see Princess Luna in the final episode, but it's dubious if this is going to be in the episodes itself.
And yes, not having cameo-appearences of her is quite disheartening. I mean, there are other ponies walking around in the background without saying anything, so it shouldn't actually be that much different having Luna be on some picture or flying around in Canterlot or something like that.
It's really bad.
Oh? I haven't seen that. O_o

I figure Hasbro has to be responsible. The crew has been well informed of how much Luna means to the fans since season one. Perhaps Hasbro never intended for her to become a recurring character. Does she have any toys?
I know that NMM will be getting toy soon and Luna IS in toy form with Celestia in two separate sets as well as the blind bag so its not to say that Hasbro HASN'T done anything with her toy wise. Its just show wise is where things come up a little dry, even with Luna Eclipsed featuring her as a main character. I don't know, it just seems like a waste to me, especially when it was inclined that both sisters were supposed to rule TOGETHER yet they are never seen together and Luna is never mentioned that much.

I don't understand the rampant Luna love, but I agree it is odd that she hasn't shown up much. Like Huntsman said Hasbro never wanted Luna to play a big role. They figured she wouldn't 'sell' because she had been evil and was a boy color. Maybe with Derpy and all the other tiny nods to the fandom the crew don't want to throw Luna out there unless it's a big event. But even then you'd -expect- Luna to show up at least one other time given that she's a co-ruler of Equestria.
I'm bummed about the general lack of princesses this season, but from the looks of it we'll get all the allicorns we can handle in the finale
*Sigh* Its unfortunate that Hasbro (and some parents) won't give Luna a chance just because of her color or her backstory, especially when the viewers already know that she ISN'T evil. Stuff like this really prevents character development, especially when its based on stupid things such as a character not looking 'good' enough. Well, considering season 3 is in the works, perhaps we WILL see more of the princesses because even with my Luna love, I still find it odd that even Celestia isn't featured THAT much. I thought by this season we would get some more insight but....yeah....

I seem to remember Lauren Faust mentioning in an interview last year that Hasbro is hesitant to use Luna much due to her being 'darker' than most of the other characters. Which begs the question of why they'd give her such a central role in the show's universe if they didn't want to use her, but what can we do, I guess. With any luck, they'll take notice of her popularity and give her some attention in S3.

I mean they are monarchs so one wouldn't expect to see the princesses out and about often, but I really think we should have at least seen Luna in the background of more episodes. If she's not in the finale I'll be put out for sure.
That's what I find most annoying about the entire thing. Since the entire series began, it was pointed out that Celestia and Luna were supposed to rule together and I was hoping that after episode two, we would see more of that since I always saw the two a symbol of yin/yang and balance but we haven't gotten that AT ALL. Celestia is still treated as the top teir sister and rules despite the fact we're supposed to assume that Luna has returned to her place as ruler and has gotten some of her powers back (if not all of them since she she was shown to be growing rapidly since her freedom.) Didn't Faust also say that Luna didn't become evil on her own and something took over her form to become NMM? If so, that would make for a good story and it would be interesting to see how it plays off.

As princess of the night, it seems rather obvious that Luna should be as dark as the night sky (or did they want a silvery color for her, like the silver moon? I don't know...) but that shouldn't have automatically branded her as being too 'dark' to be in the show with everyone else, especially when its already be established that she is not an evil character and that she does care for the other ponies. Then again, the people who said Luna is too dark to be good and/or in the show are most likely the same people who said that Celestia toys wouldn't sell if they were not pink and that little girls are scared of queens. In other words, they probably have THIS type of mindset going;
Oh, who knows what the children will think if we have this characters who isn't pretty pastel colors walking around as if she's a GOOD character?! Who knows what type of influence a dark character will have on children! Soon, they will never know what to look out for since they should grow up knowing that the difference between good and evil is coloring and dark is definitely evil and-!
Okay, that's EPIC GENERILZATIONS but I was hoping that the show would at least try to do something different by playing a bit against the 'all darkness is evil' trope since they have been going against a lot of other tropes associated with girl-centric shows. I did see the download pics with Luna pushed behind her sister (still in her season 2 form) and I can only hope these are actually screen-shots or something from the episodes but yeah, this lack of Luna isn't great at all. The girl deserves more love.
Still sticking to my "rules the night, sleeps all day" theory.
(Though, how many episodes that take place at night would have a reason for her to show up?)
I have to say it; Ai no rite?!

Yeah 'Owl's Well that Ends Well' could have at least have a line about Luna making that star shower! but NOOO.
Luna doesn't even get her Longest Night celebration! ><

As others have said, HOPEFULLY something will come from her in season 3. She already has TOYS so she is an established character to Hasbro which is good but we just need to see her more in the show, especially since she is supposed to be HALF of the ruling party of Canterlot! If there is supposed to be a balance between Celestia and Luna, they aren't doing a real good job in showing it.
