Applejack is probably the most shrug-worthy pony to me. I don’t like her, but I don’t dislike her. I haven’t found any of her roles to be particularly memorable, and being the most “normal” pony, she doesn’t have any particularly interesting facets to her character beyond “I have a very large family.” Hopefully she gets some better roles in the second season.
What do you think about Applejack?

And stay out of Riverdale!
Yeah, not really a fan.
Not only because of the reasons mentioned already, but her accent irks me. Which is odd because Ashleigh Ball is also the voice of my favorite pony.

Applejack's my 2nd favorite pony, after Twilight Sparkle. I like AJ more than I thought I would; I figured her being just an Earth pony would make her boring, but I actually enjoy her no-nonsense workhorse persona, and like Twilight she's a rational character who keeps the others grounded, and I can relate to characters like that. Plus, I like her running shtick with apples; it reminds me of Bugs Bunny's obsession with carrots. And oddly enough, I like her accent.

All of AJ's episodes were smooshed together at the beginning of the season. We really need more focused on her desperately than anyone else. I think she's pretty cool for "the normal one" but some more insight would always be great.

Applejack is usually the last place in polls like these (and I tend to agree). I think the reason is:
a) Most of her centric episodes came earlier in the season, whereas (at least in my view) the show actually got stronger as the season went on
b) She's probably the "flattest" character; she's reliable, a voice of reason, quite competent, etc. This is great and all but it's kind of hard to latch onto
Voted sixth place.
It recently dawned on me that my signature could be interpreted as being said by me. For the record, this was not the case. If the previous signature reduced your opinion of me, please increase your opinion. Thank you.
Applejack's just kind of... there for me. "Dependable" doesn't make for a good character hook, really.
Now 20% cooler
I can say she's near the bottom of my list. I like the fact she's dependable and a hard worker, but she can be quite stubborn. That and she isn't that fleshed out compared to the other ponies.

She's kinda "meh" to me too. She doesn't seem to have as much to her as everyone else and she seems to have been downplayed as time went on, though maybe it's just me.
I can't hate any of the mane cast. Love them all. But Applejack does come off as the most plain.
So what do people think should be done to make her more interesting? How could they grow her character without distorting her actions to this point?

Personally IDK. I'd hate for them to flanderize some trait and take her from plain but likable to utterly repugnant.
She has a gimmick, her personality is defined, she has had a few episodes to herself or with another character.
IDK what to do with her. :/
You have any ideas Huntsman?
Applejack WAS my third favorite character for the longest time but after rewatching a bunch of episodes with my brother I've been finding it harder and harder to remain Applejack faithful because, it's true, she hasn't really done much. She's just kind of... there. She's had some really great moments in the series and her voice is great but they really need to find a way to stretch out her character more. But the question is, how?
Maybe we should find out what happened to her parents. I mean, she lives on a family farm with her brother, sister, and grandmother, but there are no parents to be seen. They weren't even at the family reunion in the first episode. Are they dead? It might seem a little dark for a children's cartoon but it wouldn't be the first time children's television has explored death (Sesame Street, Rugrats, hell even Alvin & The Chipmunks). Maybe getting some insight on that would help her develop more as a character.
Yeah I think she's fine as a straight mare. We don't need any flanderization this early on.

My least favorite pony. Just not very interesting to me.
As others have said the problem is that the AJ-focused episodes were in the beginning of the season (I feel the show became stronger in the second half of the season) as well as that she's the blandest of the main characters.
Personally I'd love to see an episode focused on AJ and her family. What it's like with her brother, sister, and grandmother. Might shine some light into her character.
I like Applejack well enough. I mean it was hard to order those guys and she's more or less tied with Rainbow Dash in order but I just love her accent and her quiet confidence. Unlike Dash's brashness Applejacks has real confidence born from working hard and knowing she good at her job. She doesn't rub it in when she doesn't have to. "Years of apple buckin'!"
She doesn't have flashy magic, wings or crazy powers like Pinkie and she's the reliable one, but she still has some flaws here or there that give her depth. Her and Rarity are the most mature of the group and she seems to be the one that is exactly where she wants to be ya know?

AJ is probably on par with RainbowDash as my second favorite character, being a southerner myself I find her steryotypical personallity rather entertaining. Darn us southerners love of apples and inability to do math. lol.
But yeah I also find the fact that she represnts honesty to be fairly interesting as well, it suites her, you could tell she had the most trouble lying to pinkie pie in the party of one episode.
But yeah Love AJ. And is it just me or does her brother Big Macintosh remind anyone else of Hank Hill?

Bah. None of you guys have any taste in ponies. NONE.
As I've said on numerous occasions before, sometimes I feel like I'm the world's only Applejack fan. I don't quite know what it is exactly, but I just really like her. I love her design (my personal favorite looking pony), and she's got a great voice. Up to this point, her personality hasn't really been flushed out to the extent of the other ponies, but that's OK with me. I don't mind how they've handled her, thus far; she kinda fits the bill as "straight-man" of the group pretty well, IMO.
