    G.I. Joe Renegades - "The Anomaly" - Talkback [06/11]

    Like This Thread!

Today @ 7:30 PM ET on The Hub

Renegades begins its slow march towards its finale with only six episodes remaining. With no new season having been ordered, and its future uncertain, fans should enjoy it while it lasts. The previous episode certainly shook things up.

The Joes head to New York to find a missing kid. While investigating, they encounter a Sewer Viper being pursued by Mindbender.

This was a great episode. I said this in the previous episode's talkback thread, but it really sucks that the series is finally getting real interesting so close to the end. I'm just not sure where Scarlet and Snake Eyes were in this episode. Perhaps it was mentioned at the end of the last episode, I don't remember, but all this episode said was that they were on a mission.

Isn't this a lot of discussion for a new episode of a marquee title? I swear, this forum might as well be decommissioned because nobody seems to be watching The Hub. I envisioned a lot more discussion than this when I pushed to get this forum created. Did anybody else watch this episode? I thought it was one of the best yet. The plot is really moving forward.

Caught the last five minutes of the episode and wondered that myself.
Yup. It's a signature. Go away if you're expecting something interesting here.

My Mother and I did. We watched the episode right after dinner. Anyhoo, nothing bad to say about this one. I'll add I liked that they didn't drag out the nuro-chip thing. I figured it would be an issue for the remaing six.

(Regretfully) only one question... Who's DNA was use in the Bio Viper hybrid? Was it Ripcord's or some other poor soul? Hope that gets y'all a little chit chat...

It would help if anybody ACTUALLY HAD THE HUB.

I'm sorry, but that's the honest truth. Unless you're filthy rich and can afford expensive cable/satellite packages there's no way anyone can get this channel.

Darlin', I'm typing to you from a trailer, so that speaks miles to the contrary. I'm pretty sure on that anyway. It might be the actual management of money as opposed to the quantity. *shrugs* I clean the barn and Mom does the books and she won't tread the 'net.

Well, I don't mean to brag but...
This was another fun episode. It was cool seeing Ripcord involved in the action now that he's back in the mix though it feels strange to see a Joe that now has powers. I cringe a little every time I see the Bio-Viper ooze coming through his eye sockets.

Pretty good episode. I kind of liked not having the entire team show up this episode. The action scenes were good; the bio-vipers have been great on this show. Wonder what will happen next, since there aren't that many episodes left.

It seems that for the summer The Hub is just doing a general Saturday Advertiemsnt rather then advertising new episodes. The last two new episodes of Dan VS were also not advertised for this reason. I don't really like it as some people might just think the whole block are reruns.

Anyway nice follow up to the last episode. yeah I'm glad they did not drag on the neuro chip plot point on longer. Now Ripcord seems to have control of his Bio Viper powers though I'm sure he will lose them soon.

Really? It's part of the basic digital cable package here... there's no HD version but, still.

Not a bad episode. Terribly crappy CGi, though, which is probably my only complaint with the series - the animation quality. Plot is good, characters are good, voice acting is fantastic, but the animation is just so mediocre.

Ah well. I like Tunnel Rat's brother; of course, Tunnel Rat in general is probably my favorite character, so any episode that gives him some focus is fine by me. Interesting that Ripcord's already got his viper powers ready to roll. Maybe he needs a new nickname.

Exclamation The Scarlett One Woman Show

It sounds like poor Scarlett's voice actress has to do ALL the work then. I like Snake Eyes and all but whenever it's just him and another character, it tends to drag down an episode. SE needs to be either by himself (like during The M.A.S.S. Device) or have a third character with him (I never realized for years, that Polly wasn't with Shipwreck during his debut in "The Weather Dominator", but she's sorely needed throughout "The Pyramid Of Darkness" where's the entire series is nothing but Shipwreck & Polly and Snake Eyes & Timber). Plus I don't like how nobody else besides Scarlett knows what Snake Eyes is saying, ARAH Snake Eyes always knew how to get his point across and show emotions. Renegades Snake Eyes either stands there reactionless or fights. Next week's episode states that another ninja is after Cobra Commander- I was thinking it might be Quick Kick (but he's not a ninja and I like that he's not a part of the "Storm Shadow Clan" convoluted mess), but if it's not SS, SE, or Jinx, who could it be? Joe's other ninja characters aren't really that prominent.

And since when does the team just abandon each other during a mission? Why are Scarlett and Snake Eyes without back up and everyone else is just driving around aimlessly?

As for The Hub's reach, I have to have digital cable to watch it too. But you can catch episodes on Hubworld.com. Talk about a channel nobody has, I've never had Boomerang, neither do my relatives who live in another part of the state with a completely different cable system. Closest people who have Boomerang to me is in the Bahamas!

No, Quick Kick is not Tunnel Rat's brother. There was no cami-Joe this week. I am glad to see that the little boy didn't try to go back into the sewer to help his friend the Sewer-Viper (like Scott Tracker from M.A.S.K. would've). We were cheated out of seeing TR's mother, but that would've meant having a woman other than The Baroness or Scarlett on this show and Renegades can't have that .

I'm surprised to see that Ripcord now has control of his power and Mindbender doesn't have control over him so soon. Looks like he's a full member of the team now. He's in the opening credits and Flint and Lady Jaye are gone (they're never on so it doesn't matter now does it?). I guess they're "The Springfield Five" now.

Here's the cast as action figures. And just like this episode no Scarlett or Lady Jaye. Though they're nice dolls!

    Spoiler:

Personally, I felt the entire series had begun to stray into horror territory with this episode, what with Ripcord blatently being unable to fight the mind control chip implanted inside him; he was only able to defeat the chip thanks to the "good" bio-viper. Basically what this episode is saying is technology is more powerful than the mind, which is totally untrue. That plus it plays with the viewers emotions again by making it look as though Ripcord might get killed off all over again, but then taking it back by having the aforementioned"good" bio-viper take his place.

Other than that, the episode was alright, I suppose. I just wish the show didn't feel it had to resort to threatening tragedy (as I predicted it would; just saying) in order to keep things interesting (but that's just me)...
Cartoons aren't "just for kids"...but they're not just for adults either. They're for everyone.

This episode was pretty decent. While the obvious CG was kind of cringe worthy, I thought the rest of the episode was pretty decent. It is kind of frustrating that Mindbender managed to get away, but I'm guessing any real development involving the whole Cobra conspiracy thing won't happen till the end of this season.

Anyways, I am kind of curious to know if there was any sort of reason as to why the sewer viper was good. Was it due to the lack of the mind control chip or something else? And on an unrelated note, it seems that Cobra Commander is doing a good job of making sure that his lackeys hate his guts. I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up screwing him later on, though.

This was one of the better episodes, but I am still not that much into this show.

At least now Ripcord can control his powers, but aside from that, I felt that once again, the plot didn't move forward too much.

This was an alright episode. I think it's a pretty big step down from the last string of episodes. I also missed Snake Eyes and Scarlett, but I do think it's cool thay split up to tackle more missions. I just think it would've been better had these guys had an actual mission, and not one that happened to slip into their hands.

I also noticed that Greg Johnson is now the story-editor, does anyone know what happened to Marty Isenberg?

I agree. The CGI and character designs are two things that I feel drag this show down.

He's my favourite character too. To me he feels like the most real.
