...except the show debuted in the 90s.
Yeah, yeah I know the movies are from the 80s.
Since nobody has posted a Talkback yet, I thought I would (hopefully I won't get in trouble)
Conan The Adventurer premires tomorrow at 7:00AM EST. Encores will air on 6:00AM EST on weekends.
So anybody has any comments? All I could say right now is "The 80s is back in business!"![]()
Hahaha! I won the game...

Yup. It's a signature. Go away if you're expecting something interesting here.
By Crom, Mitra and Set, this show is nothing short of a miracle! Who would have thought a kid friendly, toyetic version of Robert E. Howard's barbaric anti-hero could be so much fun?
I get flashback to the Nostalgic Critic's review of Saved By The Bell.
Anyway it is a great show non the less.
So far a great show, even though it is only Two esp shown so far. Since this show was in syndication i never caught it in NJ and only saw about 3 total esp back when we visited a relative in FL when it was originally on.
The great thing about this show is that, unlike virtually every other syndicated series from the 80's/early 90's.Spoiler:

Huh, I remember watching this show right before school (It was the last thing on before the school bus arrived) as a kid. Figures its on now.
Yeah, first things first. This Conan has little in common with Robert E. Howard's brutal hero. Once you get past that, it's certainty superior to other barbarian kids shows (coughHeMancough)
I missed the beginning noooooooo! Looks like I'm in time to see the token girl hero introduced though. Jasmine, I believe....
I love how the serpent guys are not killed by Conan but are rather sent to back to ANOTHER DIMENSION! Ah, S&P.
Based on memory I'd say that this actually is in fact a positive contrast to He-Man...of course, after The New Adventures of He-Man I imagine there was nowhere to go but up for this kind of thing.
I would suggest that it's not the medium, but the quality of perception and expression, that determines the significance of art. But what would a cartoonist know? -Bill Watterson

I never watched Conan The Adventurer when it originally aired. But I'm glad to be catching up with it now.
Guess what JEM and Conan The Adventurer have in common besides airing on The Hub?
They were both "created" by Christy Marx and produced by Sunbow Productions.
I watched "Conan The Gladiator" and cheered when I saw the credit written by Buzz Dixon! BD used to write for GI Joe and Transformers. I can't believe what Broadcast, Standards, & Practices let them get away with! The series dealt with cannibals and cannibalism! Prince Zula's no good cousin keeps trying to kill Zula and inherit the throne and Conan keeps thwarting him. I'm shocked that Hasbro went there with Baron whatever his name is. I'm guessing he's not an action figure parents can buy. It was a great episode with Jasmine, Needle, Zula, and Conan all helping/fighting equally and being a good team.
It's interesting to note that Needle, Jasmine and everyone Conan encounters calls him "A Big, Dumb Barbarian" and he doesn't seem to take offense. Conan actually doesn't strike me as dumb at all. Especially not in comparision to Thundarr The Barbarian, who was quite.... uncouth.
The other night both live action Conan films were on AMC.... and I couldn't bring myself to watch them. I had resolved to only watch old Arnie movies and none of whatever new stuff he comes out with (especially any non-Cameron Terminator movies!). But it's too soon, I just read today on (Huffington Post) that Arnie was cheating on Maria Shriver with Brigette Nielson way back during the filming of Red Sonja. If they are repeated, I'll try to get through them for James Earl Jones and Grace Jones.
I am sorry when they mention Zula's name, I always think of it as a girls name. That was the original name for Princess Azula from Avatar: The Last Airbender, so I always associate a girls name with that, particularly an evil psyhoctic girl.
Next Week's episodes are:
June 7th - "The Heart of Rakkir"
June 8th - "Men of Stone"
June 9th - "The Terrible Torrinon"
I'll update this once Hubworld.com reveals what Friday/June 10th's episode is gonna be. By the way, that "Men of Stone" episode sounds suggestive o.o![]()
Hahaha! I won the game...
I practically enjoyed this week's "The Terrible Torrinon". The fake, low powered circus magician who manages to use chicanery to nearly defeat Wrath-Amon was lots of fun. The flashbacks of him always getting tomatoes thrown in his face at performances were funny.
The Hubworld finally has a page for Conan The Adventurer. Respect!

Looks like there's one more ally that hasn't been introdued yet. It's interesting to note that not everyone appears in every episode. What's Zula, Jezmine, the Viking, and the other guy doing when they're not with Conan?
Windfang pulls a 'Beauty and the Beast" routine on Jezmine. I liked this episode since it shows that not all of Wrath-Amon's henchmen are completely evil. Even Needle and Dregs can't help but sympathize with Windfang's story of being a human soldier tortured and turned into a monster by Wrath-Amon.
Jezmine's not in love with Windfang and Windfang's not really in love with her, she just looks like his long dead fiancee. But not looking like a human for over a 100 years can make a guy lonely. So he kidnaps her for company and protects her from Wrath-Amon. The cavalry of Conan, Greywolf, and Falconer come to Jezmine's rescue. Windfang and Jezmine are now friends. Windfang and everyone else I'm not so sure of. Windfang still serves Wrath-Amon, but keeps hopes of being human alive.

What I have noticed is statous quo is god rule on this show. It gets a little irritating, it is a miracle they let Conan's grandpa to be free of the spell. I know they will probably saving all of the plot develoment for the finale.
But I understand this is the way shows were done back than, statous quo is god, with very little plot development except for maybe the season or series finales. Gargoyles changed the way western action cartoons were done. That is the first cartoon I saw that really didn't have any statous quo, things rapidly changed. I guess I am spoiled on that. This show was done in the early 90's before Gargoyles that came out in the mid to late 90's.
But would it kill them to let Shasa and Mesha be human, how many episodes have had the plot teaser of them finally being human, only for something to stand in the way.
