    A Cautionary Tale

Damnit, I was going to watch just the pilot out of sheer curiosty and boredom, expecting prime mock fodder. Next thing I know it's 3am, I'm already on episode 16 and I can't stop humming Winter Wrap-Up. What dark sorcery has Lauren Faust woven into the frames of this show that ensnares the souls of men? And it's still better then Transformers: Prime.

Lauren did what nobody thought possible. She made MLP watchable, heck, she made it good. FOR ALL AGES.

Last Saturday I went to a StreetPass meeting (a Nintendo geek thing for those unfamiliar) and one guy was carrying a Pinkie Pie figurine. At least two other people confessed to watch the show.

Fairly the same experience me and so many others have had. You just get sucked into it, feeling a complete and totally natural-feeling feeling of simply wanting to watch more of the show. 1st stage of reaper indoctrination? Pinkie Pie assuming direct control of your TV.

As for Prime, I think that it's a series of wasted potential, held back by hasbro's reverence for the oodles of cash the Bay movies have brought in and trying to emulate that in a show. Bumblebee must no longer be silenced! GI Joe renegades, IMO, is one of the best action shows I've seen in a long time. Prime should be more like it.

I just wish I could convince my friends to watch this. No matter what I say they seem dead set on never giving the show a chance. And they don't really provide any good reason as to why, they just refuse.

Yeah I'm a huge Renegades fanboy. Basically i rank the Hasbro based Hub toons as so: Renegades>Friendship is Magic>>>Prime. It's a strange state of affairs when I'd rather watch a magical unicorn sing about dress making then watch giant robots beat the slag out of each other.

It's kinda understandable given what people know of MLP before this. Really the only way to get into this is by chance, as if you stumble upon it. As an example, I got into it slowly through the Ponycraft2 parody, and I really loved the animation and the expressions on the charachters, and the rest is history.

Faust has done what most thought impossible, she's made a girl's cartoon that is actually good and enjoyable by everyone. Definitely one of the best cartoons on at the moment.

I'm probably not typical, but I actually sought it out (this was triggered primarily by seeing so many people here using pony avatars).

That's more or less what happened to me too, though I saw the avatars elsewhere first.

I must be the only one who sought this out because of opinions of those I trust and little else. I didn't even know what the show looked like until I saw the first episode.

This was essentially my experience. When I first saw the online following the show was getting I assumed some kind of massive troll, but it kept going, and when I saw The Onion AV Club gave it a good review I figured it was worth a look. By "Dragonshy" I was pretty firmly won over.
    I'm already on episode 16 and I can't stop humming Winter Wrap-Up.

It recently dawned on me that my signature could be interpreted as being said by me. For the record, this was not the case. If the previous signature reduced your opinion of me, please increase your opinion. Thank you.

That and the Cupcake Song and Pony Pokey just won't leave my head!

I'll be honest. I didn't like the pilot all that much. Heck, it's probably one of my least favorite episodes because it feels too preachy and seems to slam the moral too much all through the episode, particularly with how they kept repeating how each pony represented something special.

"Ticket Master" was a rather cliché plot, but I was completely won over by "Applejack Season". There was definitely a good show there.

Winter Wrap-Up has officially replaced Invisibo in my head as the song that never goes away.

Me too, after seeing so many praising of the show here on TZ & everyone had pony avatars, a few weeks ago decided to Chekhov it out and 4 days after I was by ep 14. Unfortunately, schoolwork has been hogging all my time lately...

I saw it mentioned on an unrelated forum I frequent, so I gave the first two episodes a watch. I told people I enjoyed it, but they said to keep watching - as the pilot was quite different from the rest of the show.

By the time I got to Fluttershy singing Pinkie's song in her cursed voice, I was hooked.

I watched the first episode on a whim, and I just didn't care for it due to being sleep-deprived at the time. Then I stumbled upon Feeling Pinkie Keen a few months later, and Voila!, I somehow like ponies.

I got into it at the very beginning... well, not exactly.

Honestly didn't like the 2-part pilot. But then I watched The Ticket Master on The Hub's website and I was reeled in.

My first episode was actually Suited For Success, because it was the first one I found on a YouTube search. I pretty much knew by the time it was over there was something to this show.

I'm trying to get my brother into it now. I started him with the first part of the pilot, but I told him it's not really a good indicator for what the rest of the show is like.

Same here, except it was on another forum I frequent and the former admin had a Pinkie Pie avatar/sig. Because of her, I went to see Pinkie's compilation video and well the rest his history.
