So does this mean we're finally seeing someone "join" the team?
It seems like there was some real significant story progress tonight.
Another new episode airs this evening.
Today @ 7:30 PM ET on The Hub
Cobra's medical facility is raided by the Joes, who are searching for Patient X.

Why did I have a dream about this? Not about him being a bio-viper, but him still being alive and rejoining the team?
Spooky.![]()
So I was wrong about the Commander being Patient X. But I was right about him being sick.
Nice!!
One of the helicopter pilots with Flint is SIKORSKI AKA "Lift Ticket"!!
Well who ever predicted Ripcord wasn't dead was right. No body . . . no death. Now unfortunately we have to put up with Marlon Wayans inspired Ripcord.

Well with his ordeal and amnesia along with Cobra Commander look becoming closer to one of his classic looks and away from the movie version (meaning the production crew might be trying to get away from movie) means his personality might not be the exact same anymore.
"Burning Man"? I think you mean "Burning Urethra" -- that place is a massive colony of venereal diseases being nurtured by their human servants. -zombie

Somehow, I had a feeling that Ripcord would survive after the first episode. The look on Duke's face was a dead giveaway. But I didn't expect him in his 'current condition' until the night scene.
btw, was anyone else excited when Cobro Commander started to wear that mask/cover. Good times...
I actually made a post saying "Maybe Ripcord is patient X" last week but I erased it because well I don't really know why.
It kind of sucks that we only have six more episodes to go for this show, I really hope there is a decent conclusion at the end.
I didn't expect to see Ripcord come back. I didn't expect to see him part mutant monster. And I DEFINITELY didn't expect him not to end up re-killed or in cryogenics of whatever by the end of the episode.
I agree with whoever said there was a real sense of progression here. A lot of the earlier episodes were pretty much episodic one-offs with a loose sense of continuity about them, but these recent ones have really felt like the story is building on itself. Very well done.

You couldn't've been surprised that Ripcord came back. It's a dramatic trope for a character killed off in the first or second episode to come back later on in the series. Morph did it on the '90s X-Men show. It's too early to say, but Rip will be like Spyke from X-Men: Evolution- who starts off a "normal" mutant then his powers go out of control making him an outcast, causing him to join The Morlocks.
Cobra Commander is becoming like Dante from the original Full Metal Alchemist anime. He's making Mindbender/The Baroness/all of Cobra Industries (The Homunculi) work feverishly to make stronger and stronger bio-vipers or exoskeletons or camouflage suits to make him better/disguise his looks (Philosopher's Stone to swap decaying bodies for healthy ones). CC's seeking immorality, since clearly he's sick/dying.
It's telling that only Mindbender's there with CC in the last scene. Maybe only he knows how bad off The Commander is. Cause with Destro plotting to seduce The Baroness, he can't trust her completely anymore. Plus it's nice to see Mindbender get slapped around for once, he's such a sleaze.
It will be interesting to see how Rip will fit into the group, the episode made sure to give him a moment/flashback with everyone. But Scarlett treats him like evidence, TR's suspicious at best of Were--Bio-viper-Ripcord, Roadblock and Duke treat him as a buddy, and who knows what Snake-Eyes thinks. Rip has already had one heroic sacrifice in this series. I don't think he'll get the chance to do it twice.
My one question is why would Duke & Scarlett push Rip's entire bed through the Cobra "hospital"? Wouldn't a wheelchair been easier and less conspicuous?
We're coming into the last 6 episodes: which characters are coming back? what new characters will appear?
Zartan and The Dreadnoks are in jail, so they're out.
Storm Shadow's a given
General Hawk's a given
Shipwreck's a maybe
Major Bludd's maybe
Breaker's a given
Almost everyone else is a one shot spread across the country.
Zaranna and Zander would be interesting. So would Alpine & Bazooka, Leatherneck & Wetsuit, Beach-head, and Lifeline.
So Ripcord really is back. OTOH, how do we know he won't be killed off all over again in a later episode?
I want to think that Ripcord really has come back for the remainder of the series, but I've heard this story before: someone supposedly killed off turns up in a later episode, only to either reveal that that person is a clone (or is otherwise a lookalike) and/or now evil, or for that person to (again) be killed off all over again. I can't name any off the top of my head, but I've seen shows that come up with all sorts of reasons to play the "Rule of Drama" card; all in order to show off how "realistic" the show is in comparison to other animated shows. For these reasons among others, I'm hoping this show will play it straight for once, and actually tell us that Ripcord really is back, for good; all the way up to episode 26.
Cartoons aren't "just for kids"...but they're not just for adults either. They're for everyone.
Yeah, she said that at the end of the episode. But we're seen no proof of it happening yet. And what does that even mean? Flint took Zartan out once, and it didn't go well. The Baroness can't get Zartan out, she doesn't work for the parole board! I think The Baroness has a job for Zartan whenever it is he's released. She's just trying to tell him to get out early on good behavior. Or she'll bust him out early. But for now, I think he's still in jail.
Don't really need to see it actually happen; ANYTIME you get that kind of situation its means that the criminal in question is gonna get out SOON... I mean how many times have we seen rich criminals get out in a relatively short amount of time despite committing crimes that should leave them locked up for decades?
Cobra will either bust him out illegally, exploit legal loopholes to get him out early, or manipulate the legal system to get him out. if cobra had an inside man within the military itself, it should not surprise us that they would have people in position to manipulate the legal process; hell for all we know they might even have the governor on their payroll. Not to mention that Zartan isn't exactly america's most wanted, so not many are gonna really pay enough attention to him to know that he could not have gotten out as early as he did (except for a few like flint and the Joes). Point is, i would say that after that meeting Zartan would be out by the end of the month. If he did not get out off screen already then the first thing we might see next episode may very well be Zartan stepping out prison
If I were Zartan, I'd cause conflict in the ranks of the Joes. In his second appearance he just randomly impersonated people. Now, he should kidnap and replace one of the Joes (Duke is the obvious choice), drop a few Cassandra truths about their whole situation, make a bunch of passive/agressive statements about everyone, hit on Scarlett in front of Snake Eyes, and finally lead a mission where they all get captured by Cobra or Flint. In general, mess with everyone's heads and their cohesiveness as a team, and sowing the seeds of resentment. Duke eventually gets free (though he knows Zartan replaced him, cause Zartan taunted him before leaving him to die), but has to deal with the mess that Zartan created. It should take more than one episode to get everybody back on track.
The Baroness said nothing about getting The Dreadnoks out. I'd like to see them have more personality in Renegades too. But I'm sure Zartan will negoitiate a way out for them too. Or have Zander and Zarana bust him out.
Who else I'd like to see is Spirit. I'd love to see a good Spirit & Storm Shadow throw down. All the Snake Eyes & Storm Shadow fights are nice and all, but don't provide any drama, cause they always end in a draw.
Yeah, I wasn't surprised about Ripcord either. I'm just surprised it took this long for him to return.
And, as usual, the army is a pile of useless trash. I know its harsh, but they did NOTHING in this episode. They just came to get beat up.![]()
