I'm pretty sure the Sonic Rainboom would be awesome even in realityespecially if it was acomplished by a frickin' pegasus.
Nice review!
The Onion AV Club recently reviewed "Friendship is Magic". They gave it B+.

That's a great review. BTW, it's from the site's Community recap/review guy. He has great taste
The comments... well, there's some trolling and insecure butthurt from people who don't really understand the show or it's fanbase, which is to be expected. Got a good laugh out of those screaming that this review would sink all of AVClub (they're kinda late to the pony fandom, actually).
On the other hand, some moral guardian left a comment accusing FiM of promoting anorexia and unrealistic body figures... because the ponies have the same design size. Yeah, seriously.
Lauren has said that kids are smarter and more perceptive than they're given credit for. They must be a whole lot smarter than adults like that moral guardian (or Kathleen Richter, while we're at it) who make such pathetic and ignorant attacks.
I think it's really great that this got a review on the AV Club. Hopefully it doesn't fall entirely on deaf ears. I see a LOT of hate in the comments.
People just can't accept that something so pure and innocent could possibly be clever and genuinely entertaining. They can't accept that a toy commercial can be worth watching. And they really can't accept the fact that adult men are actually enjoying this show most without even a hint of irony.

It's awesome that The Onion likes the show but, yeah, those comments... it looks like those people need a lesson on the magic of friendship.
I mean I can understand that people will choose to ignore it and that's fine but the hatred for FIM just seems to keep growing. I guess that's because of some obnoxious bronies ruining it for the normal people who just happen to enjoy a good cartoon regardless of it's intended audience. I mean come on people don't bat an eye at an adult who watched Animaniacs in the 90s or today. Same with Batman: TAS, various Disney Afternoon shows and lots of cartoons in the 80s, 90s and even some in more recent years. Why is FIM any different? The answer is it isn't.

Without being too contrary, I can totally understand the apprehension people would have. My Little Pony was, well....boring in its earlier incarnations. Most of the characters were unmemorable, the animation was rather ugly, and it was prohibitively girly. My sister grew up with these shows, which meant I sat through a few as well -- and neither of us remember much about them at this point. Being told there's a new one that's actually worth watching might be a bit for a lot of people.
Besides, a few minutes with the first Animaniacs episodes would tell you that it's a show meant for universal audiences. You might not get that right away with the new MLP show. It's good and easily breaks out of its "little girl" demographic, but it's still covered in pastels and names like "Twilight Sparkle." That's a hurdle for some people![]()
As for the AV Club, if you ignore the comments (and accept that some people seem to review things they actively dislike), it all goes down a bit better. Kudos to Todd VanDerWerff for giving it a fair shake.
AV Club seems to be conceding that MLP is kind of a big thing, at least in the world of mashed-up movie trailers:

The fact the comments are filled with people roleplaying as the characters and refusing to address any critical points made at the show and treat it as a huge joke themselves sort of gives them plenty of basis for that decision. Shouting meme phrases like brony and such isn't proving them wrong in the slightest

I don't like it because it's just a meme factory or because of some "irony factor" that people like to throw out, I like the show because it is one well crafted series that should be watched by everyone. It's like PPG, but more focused on the comedy aspect than action. I'm old enough to ignore brand labels like MLP and enjoy something as long as it's good.

I hoenstly enjoy both, but the show itself more. The memes are just the Frosting on top of the sweet and tasty cupcake that is the show.
In all seriousness, there was a good deal of thought put into each and every main charachter, which is a big deal considering there are six of them. I haven`t seen such an excellent ratio of characters to strong development since digimon 01.
Another thing they ironically have in common is that each charachter is supposed to represent an emotional trait. I guess I just really like shows like that. ^_^

Well, OK, I enjoy some of the memes (notably "Welcome to the Herd", if only because the image used is so appropriate), but I generally stay away from 4chan as it is, as well as any other Pony fansites aside from here and occasionally Equestria Daily since they're relatively sane over there. I love that the show has a large fandom, but the memes can get tiresome rather quickly, and I'd rather talk about what makes the show good like we do here.
On the actual subject of this topic, that's a rather good, thoughtful review.

...Thank you for proving my point. If someone disagrees with you or makes a valid criticism against the show it is not trolling. Trolling is ignoring, dismissing or just spouting memes and being generally being rude to annoy people; basically what you're doing right now. Fans can't act this way and expect to not get called a troll or receive a negative portrayal by people.
I dunno about you, but all I see there is random insults, no actual criticism to be found. Anyway, we just let them say what they want, and contine to love and tolerate the *blank* out of them. ^_^
