I guess it might be useful. When I am unsure how to spell a word, and no other word can be substituted easily, I quickly open a word processing program.![]()

Corn is not a vegetable any more than a peanut is a nut, and a peanut is not a nut!
Yeah, sometimes I do that too, but it would just be easier, is all.
a spell check would be cool
The idea of a spell check was mentioned last April. Obviously, nothing has come of it, as of now.

Server-side spelling checkers would most likely eat up more of Toon Zone's bandwidth. Client-side spelling checkers however are usually faster and easier to use. One of the client-side solutions that I use is ieSpell for Internet Explorer on Microsoft Windows which makes use of right-click navigation. There should be an few client-side spelling checkers out there that pertain to your current operating system and web-browser.

It would be nice for people like me or seem to just...not know how to spell. But the reasons Sir Gatts said pretty much fit in to why we have yet to get it.

Yeah it would be a nice idea. However over on boards like the DCUA is would be annoying because it wouldn't reconize words like "Zattana" "Oa" J'onn J'onnz" and stuff like that. But since it would be optional I guess it wouldn't be tht big a deal.

We did have one a looong time ago, but it was removed for reasons which I'm not too sure of. There will have been a good reason behind the move, but the spell check was once part of the board, It was a bug filled thing though... just used Word - it's faster!

"I turned to Aunt Agatha, whose demeanour was now rather like that of one who, picking daisies on the railway, has just caught the down express in the small of the back."
When we first installed this forum (way back in April 2001) it had a spell-check fetaure, but it was removed because there was going to be a charge for us to continue using it.
You should definitely look into ieSpell, or just wait for the next version of Internet Explorer, which I've heard will have a spell check built-in.
