Re: help please....
Well, first thing you gotta do is find yourself a picture! Get it from anywhere - this site, another site, one you make yourself, whatever. Then, once you have it saved to your computer, you'll need to get it resized to the proper size. Once you got that done, its all a piece of cake!

Piece of cake IF you know what you are doing
I tell ya, Derek, it took me about two hours to figure out how to get my avatar posted. From finding the picture, to cutting the exact image I wanted from it, to trying to resize it and resize it and resize it (see, the image can only be so big byte wise) and then getting a crappy looking JPG that I wasn't happy with (this was the one previous to the one I use now. I am happy with the one I use now)...I wouldn't call it exactly a piece of cake!
Also, you have to upload it to toonzone in your control panel, which you will find at the top of the screen. Save it either as a jpg or a gif, and you will find out exactly the size it should be in the control panel. Best of luck, I hope to see your avatar soon!
I'll try being nicer if you try being smarter.

Oh come on. It's not that hard! It took me 5 minutes! I went to the official site, found a pic I liked, and saved it to my computer. Then I used Photosuite to resize it properly (the size is listed on the page where you upload the avatar. Then I just went to the upload page and did it! Easy as pie!

Well, I had never done it before, and I used Corel Photo Shop and I guess it just kept on saving it as too big of a file, every time I tried uploading it to toonzone, it would tell me the file was too big, even tho I had reduced the size of the picture smaller than most avatars on this board! It was most frustrating!
And I didn't upload it from some official site. I got the image from amazon.com and then played around with it from there. I started from scratch, basically, which is perhaps another reason why it took so long. It took about two hours from the time I started (looking for a cover to one of the books to Peter David's New Frontier novels to find an image of Captain Calhoun that I liked) to the time I successfully finished. I think it only took me three or four times of resizing the picture and saving with different quality settings to finally get it to upload. So yeah, once I had the picture and everything and had it a nice small rectangle, it didn't take two hours. I was talking from litereally start to finish. So, I guess I was misleading a little...if Derek has a pic already to go, it shouldn't take him quite as long! I got mine up in three or four tries, which didn't take long!
Sorry for any confusion!

Just email me! I've helped a lot of people here with their avatars.

Blah....I abhorr anything by Corel, their products are so non-user friendly. EVAHL!
I didn't have to resize my picture, because I just use my ezboard photo (Drawn and computer-colored by me, plug plug plug!) which was already at a small size.
The only problem was, every time I clicked "Change avatar", it crashed my computer. I still can't do it >
I had to change it using one of the crappy school imacs.

God, I hate stuff like that. mysmilies.com makes my AOL program instantly shut down, so the only time I can use it is if I get on the Internet at work during my lunch period. It sux.

I can't complain. I got the programs entirely for free from a friend.

If it works...
...it will work for ALL your posts from this point on! And it will be on your posts that you made before you had an avatar, and should you change it in the future, it will change it for all your posts before and after the change.
