Well, it's a hell of a lot funnier than Kid Notorious, but not nearly as funny as Chappelle's Show.
What do you think about this show?

I prefer Chapelle's Show.
I prefer it also but I was just wondering about this show.
Well, as we all know it's all opinion, but I beg to differ. I find Chappelle's Show pretty hit-or-miss. When it's funny, it's DAMN funny (see: the sketch about the black KKK leader, the one about what would happen if black people ever actually got full reparations, the one about R Kelly), but all too often it seems like he just goes over ground that's been covered a hundred times by Chris Rock. Now that the "that's so racist, I can't believe he got away with it on television!" shock value has worn off, he's seldom very clever with his racial humor, and most of it lacks the observational social commentary value that some of Rock's stuff has.Originally Posted by Master Moron
Reno 911, on the other hand, I find consistently amusing. Part of it is that it appeals to my dark sense of humor, but they always seem to be able to find new situations to throw the characters into to get some good chuckles out of me. It's nice to see some of the better cast members from the State get some steady work, too.
Here's hoping they make some new episodes. It might be a little early in the game to start hoping for a DVD release, but if they ever do go for it, they've got one customer with his wallet in hand right here. (-:

Reno 911! is hilarious. From Jonesy's suspension, to the Michael Ian Black guest spot as a sex offender, to Garcia horrifying the kids at the jail, to the paintball shootout, to everything in between, it's almost always funny. I'm pretty sure it's been renewed for a second season, so I'm eagerly looking forward to that.
That was one of the greatest television moments of all time. I agree with your assessment of Chappelle's Show. I find him pretty funny most of the time (especially his standup special), but there are large portions of the shows that either drag a little or are just plain boring. There are also golden moments, like the aforementioned Clayton Bigsby/R. Kelly sketches.I find Chappelle's Show pretty hit-or-miss. What's offensive about the most religious instrument ever?
i think reno 911 is a great show. Its just that they only made about 5!!! episodes![]()
Well, all of the sketches in Chappelle's show don't deal with race. Some of the funnier ones don't deal with race at all. Like the Pretty Woman parody, and that Yoda parody. I laughed so hard when Yoda said "Good blow this is, horny I am."Originally Posted by Mynd Hed
Really, both are freaking hillarious. Reno 911 hasn't really had a bad moment, and while some of Chappelle's sketches have bombed, it averages out to be good.
I think Reno has been renewed, just because Chappelle said "Why am I back? They ran out of episodes of Reno 911...", not "They cancelled Reno 911...". While it's just a commercial, Comedy Central does air Reno a lot (They air a semi-marathon of their best episodes occassionally).
Man, I wish that some other CC shows were treated as well. Strangers With Candy...

I think that Reno 911 is pretty good. To put it in a statemember perspective, I find it on par with Viva Variety! but not nearly as good as The State.
"Um, when I came on the show, I was under the impression that you could win prizes or money. Not orphaned children."
The State needs to be on DVD... now.
That's true, but a fair portion-- the majority, if the episodes I've seen are at all representative-- of the sketches do rely on racial humor, and I do wish he'd diversify a bit more, because I agree, most of the funnier sketches are the non-racial ones (my personal favorite being the R Kelly parody).Originally Posted by Master Moron
