Too many movies!!!!!!!

Normally,I will go for entire years on end without ever going to the movie theatre.It is very rare for me to be interested in more than 1 or 2 films per summer...but THIS year...its just crazy!

I currently want to see Shrek,Evolution,Planet of the apes,Final fantasy,Atlantis,A.I,Osmosis Jones,Jurrassic park 3,Cats and dogs,Tomb raider,Dr,dolittle 2 and Mummy returns.

Thats 13 movies in one year that I at least have some mild interest in!

I know a few of those are already out,but I havent gotten to see them yet.I at LEAST want to see Evolution and Final fantasy in theatres...

I am usually the type to say, "oh, I will wait for the DVD." Unless it is a great epic or an animated movie or something I just HAVE to see and I want to experience it on the big screen, I wait for the DVD. And DVDs are expensive enough without having to spend $7-10 more on the movie in the theater. Like you, I only go a couple times a year, maybe even three or four in a good year, to movies that I feel will be enjoyed better on the wide screen (or a Kevin Smith movie, as I know he will take FOREVER in getting the DVD out!). But this year, it's too much. There is A LOT coming out for animation fans, and there is also alot of great epic style movies coming out that just have to be seen in a theater to be fully enjoyed. There are so many I want to see, I am beginning to lose track. Perhaps with the writer's strike over the studio's heads, they green lighted these projects all at once instead of letting them die during a period of the strike. That's the only thing I can think of. I have never seen a flood of great movies like this all at once.

I know one other thing, too. Around Christmas time, my wallet is going to be hurting equally as much buying the DVDs of these movies! OUCH!

Speaking of Lord of the Rings, here's some LOTR DVD Info I stumbled upon:

Information regarding the eventual Lord of the Rings DVDs has turned up.

According to Variety, director Peter Jackson has already started preliminary work on what will be included in a "Director's Cut" box set that will hit stores in 2004. The trade reports that these versions of the three films will contain some extreme footage that is being cut out of the films that will be hitting theaters screens, starting this year.

In addition, word has it that the DVDs will make extensive use of hours of behind the scenes video footage that had been shot during production.

I read that same news story on DigitalBits.com. That box set will be worth the wait, for sure! Til then I will just rent them whenever I want to see them.

i usually wait until the vhs and dvd come out unless its a really good movie........that away i can avoid our horrible disasterous war-zone movie theater.

SCREAMING BRATS! I hate nothing more than a screaming brat. If my wife told me she was pregnant again, I'd say Sorry Babe, I'm outta here! (That's an actual quote from a manager I worked with at a grocery store!)

I really hate loud kids in the theater, crying or other wise. Well, I hate loud people all together. You almost expect it at movies like Shrek (tho I did get annoyed at some dumb ***** dad who had to ask his son what he thought of EVERY SINGLE TRAILER and he wasn't very quiet about it! Not to mention his laugh was rather annoying, but that's easier to handle than a SCREAMING BRAT)

I am more upset at parents who bring small children into R rated or adult themed movies late at night and let them cry or act up and do nothing about it. Those people should either get a sitter or STAY AT HOME.

And the parents with their kids in Shrek or a movie for kids who let their kids run around down front or will just take the crying kid to the front row and let him cry down there. Yeah, you're away from the people in the back you were pissing off, but now you are down by those of us who like to be closer to the screen, pissing us off!

This is why I usually wait for the DVD and will only see movies at a theater I REALLY want to see!

I want to see Ghost World. That's about it. I'm not a big CGI fan, so Shrek is on the bottom of my list, due to my intense discrimination of realistic computer generated imagery. Same goes for Final Fantasy. This year, it'll be DVDs (hopefully if I can get my summer job again).

Go see SHREK. You'll forget the whole CGI thing in the first 10 minutes. As for GHOST WORLD, it opens limited July 18th (I think) then goes wide in August.

I'll have to agree with both of you here... I absolutely, positively hate Shrek's style. It looks just plain creepy. But within two minutes, the movie had me absolutely charmed! The movie was truly hilarious (and not just with the Disney jabs, but those were fun too), and I loved the ending. Honestly, it's worth a try.

I still don't see why some people gripe about the CGI. I thought it really enhanced the story. Plus, after this weekend's gross, the movie is $400, 000 shy of the $100 million mark (according to movies.yahoo.com). I may just see this movie again to see if I missed any of the many in jokes.

It better come to Kansas City! Princess Mononoke never did, and neither did Ride With the Devil, at least not at any theater I knew about.

I loved the CGI in Shrek! Pixar definitely has competition with this entry into the animation market!

I personally can't wait for the DVD! To be able to freeze frame some of those scenes you know you're missing things in...and you know that animators are always putting fun little details in crowd scenes and the sort. I am sure we all missed alot upon the first viewing.

BTW, that's what that Disney site is about that I am looking for a link to. It has an exhaustive listing of all the in jokes and tid bits the animators threw in to each and every Disney movie ever made. The site is dedicated just to Disney, it is not an easter egg site that has other movies on it.
