I wouldn't doubt it either way. It could easily be scripted OR a reality TV show. I wouldn't know for sure though. I don't think MTV would get away with lying for that long though.
Ok, I just saw the the Series (honestly I thought there was one more season...but I'm lost now) finalie of MTV's 'The Osbournes'...
...One of the few reality TV shows besides Survivor I'll watch (and one of the last shows on MTV that I actually watch).
Anyway I had seen the ending of this episode vaguely while doing something a couple weeks back...and I thought they were playing the whole episode off as a joke type deal.
Spoiler:
However during the credit they show a blooper real, from way back in the first season...which confuses me...
Is the Osbournes really the reality of the Osbourne family, or is it scripted?

I'm filing this right along with "Wait... professional wrestling fake?" under my "Well, Duh" file. (-:
I don't believe that anything that anyone refers to as "reality television" is in the slightest bit real.
But Elvis IS alive. I play cards with him, Tupac, and JFK every Friday night.
Yeah, it's fake. I hear things are much different in their real lives. Supposedly, Jack and Kelly rarely talk like that to their parents, and rarely use curse words. I also hear Ozzy gets real upset with Sharon when she keeps spending his money.
That's just what I heard. And you know, I wouldn't doubt that at all.

I don't believe the entire series was faked, but I think parts here and there were. Here are some interesting related articles I ran across while surfing the web:

I'm surprised anyone at all bought into the last episode as being "real". I knew about 10 minutes into it that what we were seeing was fake: Jack and Kelly's "acting" was terrible and stiff. I'm sure the final episode was faked, but I'd say there were definitely parts of the series that were "real".

Yea, I agree that some of the show had to be scripted. I mean, outrageous stuff, worthy of TV, can't happen in their lives ALL THE TIME. Oh and did anyone watch the finale to season 2? That event just SO happened to make it just in time for the taping of the finale...![]()

I'm gonna wait until I hear it from the Osbournes themselves if it is indeed scripted or that it's real. Until then, I won't believe a word about it being scripted until I hear it from one of the family members or the whole family.

not being real..
i just lost some respect for the osbournes when i heard the last episode 'was relevant' to be faked... or scripted.
i wonder if any of those bats were fake, too. \
MTV did market it as a "reality sitcom" which if you think about (with this possible revelation) means it's real, but it's not.![]()

It's clearly real. Sure, sometimes you'll have one of the characters do or say something just for the cameras, but that's still a true reaction. And anyone in that situation will tell you that after a while, you can't help but forget that the cameras are there, to some degree. Just because MTV sets up a family meeting doesn't mean what's said there is fake. The only staged/scripted thing is that finale, which they openly did as a special one time thing.
