Full-length Kill Bill theatrical trailer debuts!

    Like This Thread!
Unfortunately not in Quicktime glory, but it still looks like it's gonna be a HELL of a movie. I know it's not gonna work for a lotta people. I can tell right away. But I think there are a lotta people out there who will just eat this up. Check it out...

Man this has been a great day for movies...Christian Bale cast as Batman AND the Kill Bill trailer. Who would've thought?

Wow I seen the first trailer and thought it was ok but this trailer makes it look a lot more interesting and I will now probably go see it for sure and it's great to know that there will be a couple sequels to this...its a triology right? Either way I think it will be great...like kid_flash said, not everyone will like it but I think I will

There are two parts, but think of it as a long movie cut in half. I've heard various reasons as to why Miramax was releasing it in halves, ranging from they wanted more money to lower the rating from NC-17 to R. Don't know the true reason though. Either way the movie looks pretty good.

I was going to be a 3+ hour movie, so rather than have people sit for that long(due to most americans having short attention spans, and don't forget the kids stupid parents will bring), they decided to split the thing in half.
Yup. It's a signature. Go away if you're expecting something interesting here.

Yahoo now has the theatrical trailer for Kill Bill Volume 1 up. You need Real or Windows Media Player to view it.

    Comments?

This doesn't look drastically different from the teaser. But the movie looks like it's going to be great.

EDIT: Woops, didn't realize this was posted already, sorry about that! go ahead and close this

Ok, so what is this movie about? I've seen the trailer, and the action scenes look cool, but Uma Thurman kinda kills the movie since I do not like her, but they don't say anything about what the movie is about. And why is it 2 parts?

I have the exact same questions. Why is this movie such a big deal? Why is everyone so convinced it's going to be such a good movie when no one's seen it yet?

People are excited about it because it's directed by Quentin Tarantino, and when he does pump out a movie usually it's at least pretty good. I should also mention that since Tarantino pumps out a movie about once every 5 years, film fans always consider a new Tarantino movie an event.

This is basically the same way people are excited about Lord of the Rings ROTK...based on the past work, people are excited about what's coming up.

So you're saying everybody has to see the movie first before suggesting it might be good? Come on. People get excited about movies all the time.

And how can anybody not understand what it's about if they've seen the trailer? The premise is stated flat out. Uma's character was an assassin, part of a group that worked for some guy named Bill. When she tried to leave them and that life behind her, they found her and shot leaving her for dead. Now, some time later, she's come out of her coma and is going after them for revenge, one by one, leaving Bill for last. That's all in the trailer.

I've watched the trailer a few times, and it has never said what the plot was.

As for it being a Tarantino, well, he is ok. Pulp Fiction was boring and sucked, while Jackie Brown was pretty good, but nothing I want to own. Anyway, just because a director makes some good movies, doesn't mean every movie of his will be great. Sometimes only one movie will be good, while the other 9 suck worst than...well, I'll leave that comment there.

Well, Pulp Fiction influenced, I'm willing to bet, a lot of the later movies YOU DID LIKE. So give it just a little credit even if you didn't like it.

At any rate, you're right, just because a director makes a couple of good movies doesn't mean the next one is going to be great. But that doesn't stop people from being excited about it.

Look at all the new Batman movie hype around here. I completely think the franchise has run its course--yet so many people are still eager about any upcoming Batman movies.

It's the same thing here with Kill Bill.

What movies did Pulp Fiction influence? As for Batman, I think Batman's time for live action movies is done.

In my opinion? Get Shorty, Out of Sight, L.A. Confidential, Fargo...just to name a *small* few. It isn't what the movie was ABOUT, it was HOW the movie did it. A lot of the movie dialogue of today-- the rambling conversations, the overuse of swearing and slang, the Seinfeld-esque observational humour...Pulp Fiction took all of that and stuffed it into one movie, which in turn influenced hundreds of other movies, trying to ape that "talkative-ultraviolent" style of scriptwriting.

In a way, a lot of movies these days are a lot more talkative than some of the pre-90s movies. Pulp Fiction really helped popularize that.

I too, am wondering what the premise and story of the movie is.

I'm guessing it's the FLCL of old karate films.

    Television Blows. So enjoy it.

Actually I hated those movies too, they were so boring.

This trailer actually kinda put me off on the movie, I really didnt like it. The amped-up fight music and corny unfunny joke ironies like the part where Lucy Liu (*shudders*) and Uma Therman are running around with kitchen knives and her kid comes home from school, etc just totally killed it for me. I know it's probably supposed to be a take on those campy 70's kung-fu flicks given that Quentin's behind the wheel on this, but the dialogue and one-liners just seemed so cheesy and stupid which is usually the best part about Tarantino's films. Also, it looks like this movie is relying more on the big budget studio backing and special effects/choreographed fight sequences than a substantial and interesting plot direction. It all looks too modern and I don't think that ever works with this genre of film. Hopefully I'm wrong though because I'm excited to catch this when it comes out. It just feels like an unintentional parody of all these recent cliche teenage Charlie's Angels-Crouching Tiger-Jet Li pop kung-fu films which generally all suck.

It looking like a parody of those movies is the only thing that really has me interested.

I'm talking about the full-length theatrical trailer, not the teaser. Did you follow the link in the first post of this thread? The plot is stated, narrated by Uma Thurman during the first third of the trailer.

Also, Pulp Fiction (and Reservoir Dogs to a lesser extent) helped to start the whole "indie film" boom in the 90's, for better or worse. I'm actually really excited about Kill Bill, being a fan of Kung Fu Films and Tarantino it's looks like at least I'm really going to like it.
