The VERB commercials: Are they really accomplishing anything?

Did it ever occur to the Government that the kids who exercise or might exercise don't sit at home and watch TV? They're usually outside. Exercising. America's weight problems stem mainly from an overabundance of cheap, fatty, and sugary food, and unless playing softball with your friends will magically generate carrot sticks that are just as delicious (if not more so) as candy, I don't think that this campain is going to accomplish much.

Asking if anyone in the audience had seen the cartoon series Captain Planet, an environmentalist show for children, he said, "I thought of Captain Planet!… If humanity somehow does turn it around, partly [the credit] will go to [Captain Planet]." -Ted Turner

Pfft. Of course it's not doing anything.
It recently dawned on me that my signature could be interpreted as being said by me. For the record, this was not the case. If the previous signature reduced your opinion of me, please increase your opinion. Thank you.

they might have gotten their wish. I got my lazy ass up to search for the remote because of how annoying those things are, so i guess i sued a verb.

Ha! A commercial telling kids to go out do something, (VERB, its what you do!) right before another commercial comes on and tells the stay put because (show x) is coming right up!

yes, it DID occur to the government, it's those kids who stay inside who their commercials are targetting!!

but no, i don't think it's working. it just isn't very clear. it wasn't until like the 6th/7th time i saw it that i figured out just what the hell they were trying to say/promote. this campaign isn't working.

It took me months before I figured out what they were "advertising". I figured they were advanced promos for some product they were gonna reveal later. I was wrong. they were just preaching to the apathetic.

I meant that the only kids who could possibly be influenced by these ads would already be doing some kind of physical activity. If they weren't, then they would be just as easily convinced to get some exercise by their parents or friends.

The kids who stay home and watch TV aren't interested in going outside and doing something. They would much rather watch people doing something.

"Sit" is a verb. "Lay" is a verb. "Relax" is a verb. "Eat" is a verb. "Smoke" is a verb....

But seriously those commercials accomplish something very important, they show that Arnold Schwarzenegger's generous donations to the Bush campaign was much valued and appreciated
"Burning Man"? I think you mean "Burning Urethra" -- that place is a massive colony of venereal diseases being nurtured by their human servants. -zombie

I had to go on the internet to initially find out what this campaign was for; I thought it was teaching kids to use proper grammar and sentence structure or something.
