They are right about the CG Hulk, though. He looks like The Incredible Fake from what I've seen.

in all actuality, i think i am the only toonzone resident who thinks this movie is a dud. it won't necessarily flop, because all the comic book fans will want to go and see it. but, after openning weekend, many a people will be telling themselves "...what was that?"

The movie seems iffy with me. The trailers and comercials are misleading since they show The Hulk as some mindless monster yet the review on E&R seems to show him more emotional. Plus I like the panel idea in some of the shots.

I'm probably going to wait for video on this one; I'm getting tired of "radiation" origins so I'll just enjoy X-Men in the mean time.

On the contrary, I've heard nothing but complaints out of several toonzone people about this movie, (not everyone though, mind you). It's kinda getting ridiculous. Seems like most of you are making up your minds before even seeing the movie. And all because of some bad buzz over a Superbowl advertisement.

You see? People are going to stay away from the Hulk all because of some bad buzz. Even after we hear from Ebert and Roeper, and they say it's a good flick, and still the naysayers come out in force to proclaim, "IT SUCKS!" before it even comes to theaters. It's disheartening I tell you...

And about Ebert, if he says a movie sucks, I'll still go see it, (and conclude for myself whether it's truly bad or not) but if he says a movie's good, I'll definently go see it, cause that means it usually is good!

I'm not sure. Right now, it looks like the movie could go either way.

I'm not impressed by the CGI on the trailers. It's just so distracting, you'd think they could have used costume for SOME of it. Then there are the few pieces of mediocore rock music and that piece of Bruce Banner saying corny lines...

But then there are the trialers that treat Hulk like more than a popcorn flick. And, hey, it's Ang Lee, so it can't be too horrible. I'll give it a shot, but I really have no idea if I'll enjoy it.

I am all about the Hulk, and have been looking forward to it since they first announced plans for a summer 2000 release. And I'm not like a natural Hulk lover, I used to hate it. But read thee some BANNER mini-series by Brian Azzarello. That's some good Hulk.

As for the CGI, I don't really give a damn. I never believed in the aliens in Star Wars and I have yet to really believe any CGI. But here's the thing...Daredevil CGI sucked. Really bad. And that's like my favorite comic book movie of all time. Same goes for Spidey, but for Spidey the somewhat bad CGI worked because that's how it looks in the comics. So if the story draws me in enough, I don't give a damn about the CGI. Really, I think the Hulk looks awesome for current-day standards (they made a green giant from scratch, y'know?) and I cannot wait for the movie.

HA! gotcha there, buddy. i've never even seen the superbowl advertisement. i made up my mind that it looks like garbage from all the commercials. i'm not saying the movie is going to be bad, i'm just saying i don't like the cgi hulk. not sure why, but he just looks...well...ridiculous. this cgi hulk doens't bring justice to the comic book drawings

Well I never saw it either, but I believe for right now that the bad buzz being generated about this movie started at that point onward. Apparently the day after the Superbowl, the buzz swept the internet that the CGI for the Hulk was terrible. And lots of people have taken up this mantra and repeated it. All's I'm asking is that you naysayers should probably go see it before condemning it.

You could be right, and the CGI could suck, and even worse, the plot could suck for all I know! But I'm placing my bets upon it being a good flick. But if it's not, I'll be right here with the rest of you saying bad things about it. But I'll wait till after I see it first.

Um, how am I a naysayer? I never said anything close to "it sucks" nor did I mention anything about the quality of CGI, or any kind of "bad buzz". This is just a franchise I am not really interested in (Saying "iffy" and "wait for video" should of been a clue to it) so I would appreciate it if you did not put words in my mouth.

I didn't get my buzz from anywhere, and I hate football, so I never saw the original ad way back. My impression of the CGI is based on the previews, and unless those clips I saw AREN'T in the film, the Hulk's appearance and movement looked fake in my opinion.

There is no need to "see the movie first" to formulate an opinion on the Hulk's appearance. The previews have told enough of how he will look and move like. Yes, the movie could be good. But I have seen enough of the CGI Hulk to conclude that it was not done well enough for my tastes. It wouldn't ruin the movie for me, but a bad script would. That's why I'll go see it if I can--to see if the story is good, not to look at CGI.

    Hulk

I think the hulk will be great like all of the other recent marvel movies. I think from the commercial the CG looks very good. in the superbowl spot it was a litte iffy but they've really improved it. especially after watching the recent Hollywood: one on one and the MTV Hulk special. I do however think this movie will be a hard sale with a complete CGI Hulk but i think Ang Lee knows what he's doing and the movie will rule.

Don't let the CGI turn you away. The movie has some pretty neat twists and turns, and the movie's origin story brings plausability to the so-called "Radiation origin".

I think "Movie Hulk" looks more like the Jolly Green Giant on steroids

I'll just wait for the video release on this one. It looks like a good movie, but not one worth spending an evening at the movies on.

Thumbs up to the CGI Hulk. To put it simply, a costumed Hulk would look TERRIBLE.

ALL of the other Marvel movies haven't been "great." Daredevil was far from great. Mediocre is more accurate. Spiderman was popular, but I wasn't impressed by it. Only X2 exceeded my expectations and blew away the original which was very, very average.

I will watch the Hulk movie, but it's clear that the CGI Hulk is not up to par. It looks awful and doesn't blend into the surroundings at all. The Lou Ferrigno Hulk from 25 years ago looked better.

The movie is going to need a very strong script in order to overcome the weak effects.

Here's the thing about Lou Ferrigno...did it look more realistic? Well, yeah, it was a real dude painted green. But he didn't look a thing like the Hulk. You name it...size, facial structure, anything. The only reason people bought him as the Hulk was because he was green. This one actually looks like the Hulk, and while you might not buy him as your next door neighbor, I can't really understand how all people can do is whine about it. With Spider-Man and Daredevil I could see the complaints (which no one really gave a crap about by the time the movie was over), but with Hulk...it looks really good. At least on par with the Star Wars stuff (which no one complains about because they're aliens...making something that, besides being green and huge, is human is a bit trickier).

Honestly, I can't understand how people can only look at stuff like CGI when selecting a movie. I'm seeing the Hulk 'cause I think it's gonna be a helluva story, not because I'm like "whoa...sweet...big green monster dude." For all the cries a lot of us have shouted to get good comic book movies, no way I'm just looking at CGI. If that were the case, I would've loved "Batman and Robin."

You've also got to remember, quality CGI isn't some easy thing that you can whip up on a computer screen in 10 minutes. We're still at a stage where you can only go so far when it comes to animating with Computer Generated technology, and I think not seeing the movie because of the fact that the Hulk doesn't look 100% real is just a tad bit silly.

From the scenes I've seen the animated Hulk looks pretty realistic...while obviously CGI. However, I'm not going to avoid this movie because of that. I mean, take the movie Gremlins for example. That movie did well, alot of people liked it and it's pretty well known now. If I were going to watch it, I wouldn't hate it because Gizmo doesn't look real, its still got other elements such as acting and story.

The Fact is a costume Hulk would look a hell of alot worse then the current CGI Hulk, as would a robotic hulk. Eh, maybe they should have waited a couple of years before attempting this movie...who knows. But everyone complains how the CGI Hulk is unrealistic, please explain to me how a guy being exposed to Gamma radiation and turning in to a huge, powerful Green locamotive is realistic in the first place? The movie is a fantasy and the CGI is merely there to help you imagination along the ride.

I just think maybe you should see the movie before denouncing it because the 2 second clips in trailers and commercials don't look real.

I think the Hulk will be a good movie and not the next Daredevil (which was horrible). They did the best they could with the CGI effects for the Hulk and I think they did a fine job (Although I think the CGI Yoda looked better). CGI is virtually the only way to go when dealing with a character like this. No disrespect to Lou Frergino fans, while I found the old show entertaining a green guy with a mullet didnt resemble the comic book Hulk at all.
