Who is Willie the Worker?
Someone brought up Willie the Worker in the Raw thread. I'd posted some thoughts, but realized it was a little off-topic, so moved them here.
For those of you who don't know, Willie the Worker is a supposed disgruntled WWE wrestler who's a little bitter and has started posting columns to 1wrestling. 1wrestling can't confirm his identity, just that the columns are fun reads. If you haven't read them, here is his first guest column followed by his first regular column, the latter of which has a link to the columns he's done since then.
There are two big reasons why this could be fake, IMO. The first column appeared on April Fools Day, and the columnist gives out way too many clues the first time out. It's probably just be some geek like me who tried to play a joke on 1wrestling, and can't believe the whole world is buying into this. But hey, it's fun to pretend this could be true and speculate at Willie's identity.
I said he gives out too many clues. Specifically, he gave us three important pieces of info about himself in his very first column:
* He was not on the card at Wrestlemania, not even for a run-in (and doesn't appear to consider the Heat match part of WM) but was backstage
* He's been with the company many years
* He claims that more of his merchandise was sold at WM than Albert (Has there ever been an Albert shirt? Okay, the guy moves some merchandise. That's something)
I figure it has to be D-Von or Bubba Ray Dudley, Test, Rikishi, or Jeff Hardy. Jeff was mentioned in the most recent update, but that could've been just to throw people off his trail since Willie gave *so* much info away about himself.
Less likely but I don't know enough about merchandise sales to rule them out: Al Snow? (TE merchandise?) Funaki? Spike Dudley? Farooq and Bradshaw?
Tajiri has merchandise, but would not likely be writing this himself. Goldust is a possibility if he's ignoring his hiatus years. That whole shock thing did screw with his brain and all.
All of the following I discount completely. Crash and Hardcore Holly, Chuck Palumbo, Mark Henry, Tajiri, Sean Morely, and Steven Richard, aren's selling a dime of merchandise. Kane and RVD were mentioned as other people being held down in Willie's first post. Hurricane was mentioned by one Internet icon, but I wouldn't call 2001 "many years", hence the reason I've ignored about a dozen other ECW/WCW guys who migrated in 2001.
That's all I've got. Discuss amongst yourselves.
