Interview with the notorious Joel Schumacher

    Like This Thread!
The Onion recently did an interview with director Joel Schumacher that proves there is much more to the man than the nonsense known as Batman & Robin. He also directed Mr. T's smash hit D.C. Cab! Seriously, though, there is some good stuff in it. Here's an excerpt regarding Batman & Robin:

"...with Batman & Robin, everybody got really greedy. They wanted more toys, more machines in the movie, to make it more for kids. Adults think kids are too scared of Batman, so we had to make it more kid-friendly, make it funnier, make it lighter. I take full responsibility. It's all me. I know I disappointed some people, but it's a Batman movie. We're at war. Let's get over it." Thanks, Joel!

You can find the rest of this interesting interview here.

P.S. No comments are made regarding the character of Joel on the TNBA episode "Legends of the Dark Knight."

I think it's pretty obvious what he's doing. Trying to make it sound like none of the blame should be placed on him. He didn't disappoint "some" people. The guy made a piece of trash film and he knows it. It earned less money than it cost to make. That's more than just "disappointing some people". What they (not just he, but everyone involved) did was alienate Batman fans worldwide. And the way he's acting like we have no right to be upset about it ticks me off more than just a little bit.
"There is an idea of a Patrick Bateman; some kind of abstraction. But there is no real me; only an entity, something illusory. And though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable... I simply... am not... there."

Interesting a similar thread was posted yesterday, but it's a different interview with close the same substance. Hmmm I was ready to merge, but now it doesn't seem right.

Schumacher directed the movie which means he well... gave the movie direction, but personally I enjoyed Batman Forever and its not like everything Joel Schumacher has made or will make Go see "Phone Booth" it looks awesome is going to be crap.

Keep in mind how much WB has been meddling with Superman and Batman. They no doubt deserve some of the blame for Batman & Robin that Schumacher always gets.

Wow, I didn't even see Jim's thread! I guess we were on the same wavelength or something. I got The Onion newsletter and decided to post their interview.
