I was hoping this would be the Super Bowl this year. I may be from Florida, but I'd like to see the Raiders win this year.
Oakland Raiders
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
I can't wait for the Superbowl. Who do you think will pull off the Superbowl. I think it will probably be very close but I do think Oakland has the advantage. Finally Tim Brown gets to play in the Superbowl and he's going to be ready. The Bucs are good, but not good enough to stay with the Raiders. Who do you think will win??? Vote now and post your answers. Thanks.

I think that team that has the pirate motif will win.

I'm gonna go with Tampa Bay. After seeing both teams play Sunday, I feel like Tampa will come through in the end.

Although I'm pulling for the Raiders, Tampa Bay seems to have the better team, so I'll say...

Personally, I've always liked Gruden because it's very easy to read what he's saying, at times it is downright funny.
My real hope and anticipation is that the game lasts no more than four hours, that way the new Alias episode afterwards doesn't get the screw job that Futurama has been getting since the beginning.
Later.
Since I'm a fan of California Sports, Oakland Raiders should win and all.![]()
Tampa Bay.
When I saw the way the regular season ended, I said to myself that whoever came out of the NFC would win. The NFC was just the better conference. Sure, they had teams like Detroit and such, but they also had Philadelphia, Tampa Bay, San Fran, and just a larger amount of really stellar teams.
The AFC should be called the mediocre conference this year. All of the teams were barely above .500. I don't see a mediocre AFC team beating a better NFC team this year.
Of course, I'm a NEw ENgland fan so I should put some belief in who I believe is the underdog this year. But, since everyone is on an Oakland kick, I think Tampa, unbelievably, will be the underdog.
Anyway, I'm just disappointed that an underrated and great Tennessee team didn't get there. With the crap that they had to go through of not having one Pro Bowl player, I was pulling for them to make everyone sit up and take notice.
Anyway, I think Tampa wins this game. Sorry Raider fans, I don't think it's gonna happen, especially with the sharp way that Tampa played against a heavily favored Philly.

I'm not a fan of football to begin with, so I'll go with the underdogs from Tampa Bay. Apparently this is going to be a tight match up, no matter how it turns out. Here's hoping there's something to watch this year besides new commercials and a lengthy half-time show.

Tampa Bay, underdogs, really?? I think this Super Bowl will be quite one sided. The Bucs defense only has to focus on one thing, Rich Gannon. There is no way the Raiders can run against the Bucs, so they'll have to rely on the passing game again. I think Barber will have at least 2 interceptions in this one. As for the Bucs offense, well lets just say the missing piece is finally in place. If they could put up 20 points against the Eagles, look for at least that against the Raiders. As for the Raiders' home field advantage... the Bucs ripped through Philly and they'll rip through Cali too.
I said that Tampa were the underdogs because of all of the talk I've heard on TV lately, as well as what I've read on various sites and heard on sports radio talk shows. It seems a lot more people think that Oakland is going to beat Tampa Bay, which I just don't see happening. Especially when you consider how badly the beat Philly, the best team in football, or the team that was considered the best, all year.

But look how good Oakland riped through all of there games also. I don't think its going to be that easy to stop the Raiders offence. Look who they have.. Rich Gannon, Tim Brown, Charly Gardner, Jerry Rice, Jerry Porter, Tryone Weatley. The Bucs don't stand a chance against the Raiders.

Offense doesn't win games. Defense does.
It's a fact. Last year the most explosivve, dynamic offense was the Offense of the St. Loius Rams, and they got to the Super Bowl and choked. New England, a much less impressive team in stats, had a defensive game plan that worked and literally made all that great offense amount to a big nothing. Of course, it ook a final second kick to win, but that game should have been a blow out if you base it solely on explosiveness of offense. New England barely had one last year.
Tampa has an amazing defense that picked apart the best team in football quite easliy. They were much more impressive in their game than Oakland was in their game this past weekend. Especially when you consider their opponents. Oakland faced Tennessee, a great team but a huge underdog by most accounts, and Tampa was the underdog, and faced one of the best teams in the NFL this season and beat them.
Like I said, I think any of the top five teams in the NFC can beat all of the teams in the AFC. The AFC was very mediocre this year, and Oakland just barely edged out everyone else. In fact, they had quite a bad slump in the middle of the season and almost missed their chance. Imagine if they had lost one or two more games. In the mediocre AFC, they would have been so toast. I just don't think the AFC is playing on the level of the better NFC teams this year.
Tampa Bay, for the most part, has been sharp all year, while Oakland has had more trouble. In the end, I think the consistency of Tampa and their amazinf defense will beat Oakland's offense any day of the week.

I'm going for the Bucs. They have the defense, and they can stop Oaklands receivers.
The defence does not score the points for the team!! the offence does that. Look at the Bucs, yeah they have a great defence but they have a good offence too. Like the game V.S. the 49ers. The offence scored all the points. And don't take anything away from the Raiders. With a new coach their doing quite well. Theres one thing.... you need a offence to win a game. Its as simple as that!

Yeah, but in todays NFL, the offense is almost secondary.Originally posted by FavreFactor

Remember when the Ravens won the Super Bowl a few years ago? Through the entire playoffs leading up to the Super Bowl they only scored one, ONE offensive touch, and still got to the final showdown, and then won that game.
The defense can score just as many, if not more touchdowns than the offense, especially if your defense is well prepared and can neutralize the threats of the other team. Interceptions can be run back, fumbles recovered, not to mention scoring a safety or blocked field goals and PATs.
And, there is always the special teams, which can play a pivotal goal in any game.
I think offense is sorely overrated. The last fews years have been dominated by teams that have not been stellar offensively, save the Rams, but have been the best defensive teams. The Ravens, the Patriots. And the teams most people think will win, because of that gun-slinging offense, like the Rams, get beaten and neutralized.
Todays NFL is much more dependent on having a good defense, not a good offense. So long as a team has an offense that doesn't make mistakes, and can score a touchdown or two, even field goals, they can win the Super Bowl. It's just a fact. It's reflected in who wins the Super Bowls. Not the best teams on offense, but the best when it comes to defensive game planning.
