    Do you buy movie soundtracks?

    Like This Thread!
I'm a big fan of movie soundtracks, but my dad always tells me, "Just because you liked a movie doesn't mean you have to buy the soundtrack." But I do anyway because most of the time I think they're great. Score, songs, I'll take either or depending on the movie. So do you buy movie soundtracks? If so what have ya got? If not then why not?

"Hey Penguin, what do you have?"
Why thank you for asking Wakko. I've put them in a nice, organized list so it's easy to read.

    Actual Score
Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace
Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones
    Star Trek Nemesis
    Batman Beyond
Batman Beyond Return of The Joker
Aladdin (few songs, but from the movie)
    The Lion King (see Aladdin)

    Music From & Inspired By
Men In Black (probably shouldn't have gotten this one, I don't care for it all that much)
    Batman Forever
Batman & Robin (movie bad, soundtrack goo... okay maybe not good, but way better than the film)
Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me
    Space Jam
    Friends
¡Mucha Lucha! (I got it for free so it's not like I paid money for it)

On the 'Need to buy sooner than later' list
    Spider-Man (the score)
Men In Black II (no songs other than Will Smith, I love Danny Elfman )
    Treasure Planet
Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (if I could only find it )

I've got some soundtracks & scores... I usually pick them up if I like the movie and/or think it has an amazing score... I have, in no particular order:

    American Pie 2 - stk
    A.I. - sco
    Spiderman - stk, sco
    Batman & Robin - stk
    X-men - sco
    Sixth Sense - sco
    Sleepy Hollow - sco
    Armageddon - stk

I'm currently contemplating picking up the LotR movie soundtracks... we have the one for the Two Towers @ work... I'm also contemplating picking up the Harry Potter ones...

I'm a sucker for symphonic music from movies... =)

    Don't you people understand!?!

You bet I do! I'm an addict when it comes to movie soundtracks. Spiderman, Batman, LOTR, Harry Potter...heck, I even buy more then one if it's got a different cover! My mom's got them all somewhere in the house, so at the moment I can't think of what we've got. I'm with you Pengy, I so want the Treasure Planet and especially the Batman: MOTP soundtracks.

    Let's think...

    Star Wars: ESB: OST

    Batman - Danny Elfman: OST
Batman - Prince: Music Inspired and featured
Batman Forever: Music Inspired and featured
X-Files: The Movie: Music Inspired and featured
Ghostbusters: OST and Music Inspired and featured
Back To The Future: Music Inspired and featured
Back To The Future II: OST
    Gremlins 2: OST

Young Guns 2: Music Inspired and featured
    Battlestar Galactica: OST
The Lost Boys: Music Inspired and featured

I bought the Spider-man score and have been looking for the Batman/Batman Returns/ Batman MOTP tracks for years but can't seem to find them. I don't really want to ship them from the USA as past experience has shown me they take AGES to come.

I guess I'm not the oddest person out there!

I've always preffered movie soundtracks to regular "teen hip" music. Don't ask me why...I just do.

I think the fact that alot of movie soundtracks have scores on them is the reason. When I was young I made this little "crappy" films with our huge camera, and soundtrack scores always gave my imagination a way to plan certain things. Didn't work most of the time...but it works in my brain.

Recently I've been thinking I want the MIB II soundtrack...The evil girl's (who's name I know....just can't remember at the moment ) theme has been stuck in my head.

    Forgive me...I'm odd.

Heck, soundtracks are all I ever buy when I buy CDs, but only if the original score is dominant.

Most soundtracks are a joke. They usually consist of 17 songs, less than half of which are actually in the film. Not only does this reek of avarice, but it's an insult to the composer who worked so hard to write a good score for the film. I have about 140 cds, all movie soundtracks (except for a greatest hits CD from Queen and a few TV soundtracks: Drew Carey, The Simpsons).
I feel that a big problem with today's society is that we don't listen to our fellow man -- especially when I'm talking.

I LOVE movie soundtracks to death...since I listen to a variety of stuff (from Rammstein to Britney Spears), there's always a different CD in my player...but in the end, I always come back to movie soundtracks, especially orchestral ones. I love playing out the scenes from the movie in my head while listening to the music, or composing new scenes to go with them.

    What I have:

    Batman
    Batman (Prince Album)
    Batman Returns
    Batman Forever (non-orchestral one)
    Raiders of the Lost Ark
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring
Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace
Star Wars Episode I: Ultimate Edition
Star Wars: Episode II: Attack of the Clones
    Star Wars: Special Edition Reissue
The Empire Strikes Back Special Edition Reissue
Return of the Jedi Special Edition Reissue
Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire
Harry Potter and the Philospher's Stone
Best of Bond: James Bond 007
The Simpsons: Songs in the Key of Springfield
    Go Simpsonic with the Simpsons

And do broadway musical soundtracks count? I have:

Highlights from the Phantom of the Opera
The Phantom of the Opera (Canadian Cast)
    Grease
    FAME
    Les Miserables 10th Anniversary Concert

BTW, I'm thinking about buying the soundtracks for Harry Potter 2, Two Towers, and Die Another Day. Two Towers is a no brainer, but how are the other two?

Heck, yeah! I love movie scores. My entire CD collection consists entirely of movie scores. I don't really like songs. They just don't do anything for me, so I've never bought a CD with only songs. Movie scores, however, are what I live for. I never get tired of them.

    Here's my list:

    Batman - Danny Elfman
    Batman Returns - Danny Elfman
Batman: Mask of the Phantasm - Shirley Walker
    Batman Beyond - various composers
Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker - Kristopher Carter
Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace - John Williams
Star Wars: Episode 2 - Attack of the Clones - John Williams
Star Wars: Episode 4 - A New Hope SE - John Williams
Star Wars: Episode 5 - The Empire Strikes Back SE - John Williams
Star Wars: Episode 6 - Return of the Jedi SE - John Williams
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone - John Williams
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - John Williams
Superman: The Movie - John Williams
    Jurassic Park - John Williams
The Lost World: Jurassic Park - John Williams
Jurassic Park 3 - Don Davis
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade - John Williams
Terminator 2: Judgment Day - Brad Fiedel
    Unbreakable - James Newton Howard
Men in Black: The Score - Danny Elfman
Men in Black 2 - Danny Elfman and Will Smith
    Spider-Man - Danny Elfman

Hope you didn't mind my strange need to name the Star Wars movies by their complete, unabreviated titles.

    See ya!
