Since my friend, Butter, has recently become a Ghost Hunter, I thought the perfect gift for him would be the phenomenal monster fighter and Lost Boys clone, The Monster Squad.

Checking across the websites I'm finding that to get this V...H....S it can cost upward to 60-something dollars!!! This is highway robbery!

I almost still wanna buy it, cuz it's such a perfect movie.... but jay-sis.

Frellin' 40 dollar, V-fricken-HS casette tape..... no extras!

Try eBay...you can often win a VHS at a low price (I got the Star Wars Trilogy: THX Widescreen Edition box set for $80; that's low, considering that auctions for that item sometimes go up to $150-$200!)

    Howdy,

There are lots of VHS tapes which, on release, cost $100 because the studio doesn't intend for private citizens to own them right off. They're really targeted for video stores, which will then rent the cassette to recoup the investment. The price of the VHS may drop later, but that's not guaranteed.

DVD, on the other hand, has made a far stronger showing as an owner's media rather than a renter's media, so studios haven't done this with DVDs yet.

The other possibility is that the tape's an import.

It's an 80's unknown monster classic.

I've an unfortunate feeling the reason why it's so high is that there's no DVD out for it and it happens to be really good. So if there's anyone out to actually look for this particular movie they know this person must be desperate.

    Bloody bastards.....

Farscape curse word that my friends and I can't help but use now on a regular basis.

It's kind of a cross between the f-word and hell.

Try buying an import anime tape - they can cost $50 or more (without shipping) and only have one or two episodes on them. That's highway robbery!

This is one of my all time favorite movies that I watched as a kid and watched again for the first time about 2 years ago and it was still good. I've been wanting a DVD release of this for years but according to www.dvdjournal.com Columbia Tri-Star owns the rights and no DVD release has been set.

Blockbuster Video managed to track a VHS copy down for me for $20. Check with them. Like they did with me, they should do a search on their computers to find one at one of their gazillion locations.
