What would Spider-Man have been like if it was directed by Joel Shumacher?

Aaahh!! I dread the thought! But me and my brother were discussing this the other day and after the horrible Batman & Robin movie, would he have done Spidey any better? I can just picture how retarded it woud have been!! Any ideas?

Peter wouldn't have been a teen. That or played by someone looking like one, to say the least. Look at Robin in both Batman movies. The man clearly looks like he's in his mid-20's, in no need of being fostered by Wayne.

I'm sure Uncle Ben would have been much more aggressive. He'd make it seem that Ben was influential, but he'd place Peter's anger for him as a focal point, and not mark it up to "teen angst."

I could make jokes about spider-nipples and the bunch, but I'm sure other will do that for me.

I think I'll stand up and defend Joel here. His work isn't always bad. Look at The Lost Boys, acclaimed cult movie.

The problem, as I saw it was Warners - who wanted to change the atmosphere and direction of the films and make the more colourful and family orientated. Okay, I'm not sure who is to blame for the nipple thing, but Joel, on the whole was just doing as he was told like a good corporate director.

I think the question best fit would be, What would Spider-Man be like if Warners had got hold of it?

Well, people thought that Raimi was a strange choice for Spider-Man and it turned out to be awesome, so maybe if Shumacher had directed it, maybe the family car wouldn't have had weird blue lighting all over it and been able to drive up walls, and Green Goblin wouldn't have become Hot Pink Goblin. Who knows?

Nipples on the Spidey costume and he would've had to fight Doc Ock and the Shocker, and Venom would've been a mindless henchman.

I guess SJJ's right... I'm making fun of Warner Bros who seem determined to ruin comic book movies.

Lost Boys was one of the greatest vampire movies of all time.

Joel Schumacher can be a great director with the proper material. I thought The Lost Boys, A Time to Kill and Tigerland were excellent, but maybe that's just me. Honestly I wasn’t too excited when Raimi was announced as Director. I mean, I love his movies, but the Evil Dead trilogy isn’t exactly known for its Oscar-caliber acting or high production values. Still, Raimi did a fantastic job on Spidey.

However, when it comes to superheroes, Schumacher’s like a kid on a sugar rush. The Daily Bugle would have been in full neon; Willem Dafoe would have overacted even more, if that's possible; I always felt that Spidey’s villains were intended to be campy, so maybe that’s not a bad thing; I imagine there would have also been an overabundance of shots of Tobey Maguire's spandex-clad butt.

But you guys are right, these elements could have been Warner Bros' influence on the Bat films, not Joel's. Look at how Donner had to fight the Salkinds & WB during Superman 1 & 2.

Well we have Doc Ock and Lizard for the next one, have we not - sure a potential 'Bane' scenerio for The Lizard there? Why do they always feel they need to have more than one major enemy per movie?!!

    I guess SJJ's right...

    I would have sucked!

Neon goblin suit. And spiderwebing would have shot out of his but.
