Having read the focal points of the script I was hoping that it was truly a fake - unfortunately it appears that this was indeed the script.
It's obvious that WB doesn't understand how to treat the Superman properties - from their casting of Nicholas Cage, to the cancellation of STAS at its high point and the approval of such an attrocious script.
Personally I think that the guy who leaked this script needs to get A) a raise and B) a Nobel Peace Prize for preventing what would have surely been a riot in the streets if this movie was ever made.
Comics2Film also reports the following:
Additionally, the site claims that Brian Robbins and Michael Tollin of Tollin/Robbins, the production company behind Smallville, are upset that Abrams’ script for Superman smashes the continuity set up on the television show. The site also reports that WB is considering ending Smallville soon to allow the Superman film to stand on its own, without having to worry about discrepancies the film and the television series.
Hmmm.....if this is true it looks like Superman fans could be getting an even bigger shaft than even we had previously believed.
