Ewan McGregor is cool, but he doesn't quite have the Lupin personality. He's too cheery-smiley, and not enough relaxed-smiley.
Yeah, so the second movie doesn't even come out for two months, and I'm already talking about the third. So what? I'm hyped, man! Anyway, since none of the new characters have been cast for the third movie (yet), I was wondering:
Who would you, the TZ Community, like to see filling these roles?
Remus Lupin
Sirius Black
Peter Pettigrew
Sibyll Trelawney
Cho Chang
Cedric Diggory
Madam Rosmerta
Walden Macnair
Marjorie Dursley
Sir Cadogan
Stan Shunpike
Ernie Prang
Madam Marsh
Apparently, there's been talk of having Ewan McGregor as Prof. Lupin, and Robson Green (Who I've never heard of) as Sirius. Thoughts?
NOTE: I got this list from ComingSoon.net, where the original had very brief character descriptions for each person, some of which had spoilers. Instead of going through and Spoiler-Boxing half the info, I just left it out. For anybody that cares, here's the original page.

Lupin...as in Remus Lupin? No way Ewan should play that role, EVER. I lost Ewan Mcgreggor, he totally kicks butt in my book, but he is so not Remus Lupin. I mean, the guy who plays Lupin needs to be quieter, more sickly looking, like skinny and pale. And although they can make Ewan look that way, he wouldn't carry it off well or have the Lupin look really. I haven't a clue who should play Sirius, but he's just about my favorite character besides Dumbledore and a few others, so I really hope they do a good casting job with him...heck, I hope they do a good casting job with everyone!
Here's a site I just found on Robson Green: Green
Perhaps with a wig obviously, possible some major hair extensions he might have the appearance of Sirius. Kind of hard to say, but it's possible.

leaf on the wind...
The reason that I don't think McGregor would work as Lupin is that he's too young. If he went to Hogwarts at the same time as Snape, Sirius, and Lucius Malfoy he should look somewhat close to how old they are, instead of just a 20-something actor in a beard (cough *EPISODE II* cough). From the pics on the Robson Green site (Thanks Barb!), he looks right for the part, but he'd look better if he dropped a little weight. According to the book, every time that Harry sees Sirius, he describes him as a "skeleton with skin". Otherwise, I like him.
He'll probably lose a few pounds for the role, if he's a method actor.Originally posted by Evil Dr. Reef

On a side note, I found probably the best artist-done image of the 70s Hogwarts crew before. This gal is to be commended, she's GOOD.Spoiler:

When I was reading Prisoner of Azkaban, I always pictured Sean Connery as Lupin. As for Black, I don't have a clue who I'd cast.

Mackenzie, I've seen those pictures. Maggie Bradshaw is really good.
I read someplace else about Jason Carter (Marcus from Babylon 5) playing Sirius. I loved Marcus, and I love Sirius so I would like Jason Carter.BTW, it was a fan forum, not a news site.
I'm not sure about Ewan as Lupin, but I can't think of anyone better. And I just found out that Ewan and I have the same birthday. O.o

What? You disagree? I just pictured someone old, worn, and wise. But after all, that is my opinion. Ewan McGregor is waaaaaaay too young.Originally posted by Mackenzie Rainelle

Just something I thought I should mention.
From my understanding, in interviews with J.K. Rowling, Snape is supposed to be in his mid 30's. And, also from my understanding, no where has it been said that Lucius Malfoy attended Hogwarts with James, Lily, Severus, Remus, Peter, and Sirius. Of course, I could be wrong there. I'll check.
Roc'n the mic.
No, you're right. Rowling said Snape is around 35 in GoF so that must mean Sirius, Remus, and Peter are too. (There is the fan theory floating around that Remus could be older, having to wait until Dumbledore became Headmaster to go to Hogwarts, but then he'd be like 38 or something.)Originally posted by Eidan

Sean Connery is 72 years old while Ewan McGregor is only 31.
Now that I think about it...Connery for Mad-eye Moody?

Sean Connery would be an awesome Mad-Eye Moody!

I heard somewhere that Hugh Grant was concidered for the new Dark-Arts teacher(forget his name, sorry) for the second movie. BUT, JK wants an all english cast which isn't really "known"..in the sense that we're all familiar with the kind of characters some of the people play. Hugh Grant might grab more attention away from the actual film. Get it? So I think Ewan McGreggor would be one of those people who'd draw the attention away from little Harry. And he just ain't right for the part.Besides...he's friggin' Obi Wan!! He IS Star Wars...he doesn't also need to be in Harry Potter. hehehe....I am a big Mcgreggor fan, though. Trainspotting all the way!

You are correct about Hugh Grant. The last I heard about it, Hugh Grant turned the roll down before filming started.
