He's lame anyways.
I was wondering because he made jokes about the miners in Somerset County, PA. It kind of upset me because, I live in a town where almost everyone's dad is a miner acept mine. And I don't see how he could make jokes about something like what happened? They could have died and he just sitting making jokes about it. Does any one agree?

Yeah, I just happened to turn it on, wasting an hour before Conan came on.Originally posted by GoufCustom

Hear hear - I always thought that David Letterman was a better show, anyway.

PS - Conan is cool, too.

I'm not really into the late night talkshows, so I don't know if any of them or good or bad. Just what exactly did Leno say? He's a comedian, it's his job to poke fun and stuff, any stuff. Not to say I like what he jokes about, and I probably wouldn't have liked him joking about those poor miners, but he is just doing his job.

i think he made jokes about it because everyone DID make it out alive and for the most part, unhurt. if one of the miners had died, then i don't think he would joke about it.Originally posted by Magentabeams

I was thinking on more of the lines that, what would one of the family memebers think of him making jokes about something that almost killed a love one. I don't know why, but, I can't agree with the jokes. He could just been serouis for onr min. of his life. (I am not attacking your comment)Originally posted by oranthal

I don't think the family's would mind. Now that its over, its something you can look back on and hopefully have a laugh over. I mean, comedians make jokes all the time now about Sept. 11th, where people did die, and you don't really see any getting upset with it.Originally posted by Magentabeams

Ahhh, to true, but if any comedian made those jokes, say, on Sept. 12th, it would have caused an uproar. (Besides, I have never heard anyone ever make fun of the victims - only how pathetic the terrorists are, or about the government, or something like that.) It's all about the timing; joking around is a way that some people deal with situations such as this. To some, it may seem insensitive (which it easily can be), but to others, it's a bit of self-therapy, and another way to remove their minds from a difficult situation they'd rather not deal with, even if just for a short while.Originally posted by Clayface

Well that, I think, depends on exactly what was joked about. And I don't really see the look back and laugh thing in this type of situation. And although comedians have parts of their routines with 9/11/01 material in them, they aren't making fun of the victims or anything close to that. Plus they waited quite a while before doing it, as far as I could tell. But again, I'd need to know what that idiot said before I would be able to comment on that further.Originally posted by Clayface

I don't listen to Leno because I think he's an idiot, but I only tuned in for a little while because he said Dennis Miller would be on, and I wanted to see him. I don't think he or Letterman are funny at all. Conan's the only good one out there, other than Craig Killborne. Oh, and Space Ghost.
But my bottom line is pretty much constant. Being a NYer I was somewhat involved with the WTC tragedy too, so I can sort of relate to where you're coming from, Sarahanne, but Letterman and Leno are idiots. So being that as the case, if you're offended, just try not to listen to them.![]()

Oh, I totally agree. It certainly does depend on what was said. We don't know if the jokes were about the victims themselves, or the situation in general. And, though I don't care for Leno myself, I have a hard time believing he said anything mean spirited about the miners themselves.Originally posted by Nightwing
