Anyone getting tired of how every action sequence is "Matrix" style now?

    Like This Thread!
I was watching Action man *Shudders* and this thing seem's so Matrix style. Forget the mentor dude who's like Morpheus I'm talking about the thing itself. The swinging camera's, the slow motion blur, it all screams Matrix. Heck even Cat's and Dogs, and Shrek are using it. When will the madness stop.

You know what's sad I haven't even seen the Matrix, and I'm getting sick of Matrix style.

I hated it the first time I saw it in a movie other than the Matrix. In the Matrix, there is an actual reason people move like that, and the laws of the Matrix universe are clearly laid out in the movie, and the stop motion movements make sense when you understand the laws of that universe the movie creates. When it is used outside of that movie and used so often in other movies, it gets old real quick. I feel like the stunt choreographers in those movie, and the directors too, are lazy to come up with their own origianal moves, and have to steal from the Matrix without setting up an explanation in their own movie of how people can move like that. Heck, they even did it in the Lone Gunmen, a series I actually liked, but I just hated seeing it in there. It's not funny, it's not cute, and it's just plain annoying when people steal from other movies like that.

I only tolerated it in Shrek and Cats and Dogs, since those movies are actually good. But it does need to stop, but it will probably only get worse when Matrix 2 comes out.

Case in point - "Romeo Must Die" - why on earth did they need to wire up Jet Li? For God's sake, the LAST guy on the planet who needs wires is Jet Li. The use of wires just detracted from what an awesome star and martial artist he is. Can you imagine putting Bruce Lee in wires? No. So why do it to modern martial actors?

HOWEVER... the spoof wire bit in Shreck was quite funny...

Yeah - this little fad is getting more annoying by the movie. This partially the reason why I can't wait for RUSH HOUR 2. They producers promised there'd be no "Matrix" like effects in the movie. Just Chan doing what he does best. It is gonna be a welcome change to see real talent and professionalism, instead of wires and CGI ehahncements.

Even the parodizing is getting old. The only times I liked it was in Shrek, cuz it was a good movie, and the Xiaoxiao stick guy flash thingies (You HAVE to see them! They're so cool!)

Ugh.......DON'T cite Action Man as an example. That's just....so bad....they use the slow motion thing every two minutes and they're TOTALLY killing it! *can't make sense*

I guess whenever there's a good thing, it raises the bar and sets a standard that everyone else is too lazy to meet so they just rip off of it.

It was good in SHREK and CATS & DOGS but it's getting old. Even MAX STEEL is using it every second they can. It seems every CGI show is trying to rip it off. And the parodies are getting yawn-inducing. It's been 2 years...can't they come up with something better?

I thought it looked hokey and dumb in the Matrix, and even worse in other movies. Take The Mummy Returns, it could have been so much better if it hadn't had that stupid Matrix style action. And Charlies Angels was even worse!

Charlie's Angels was a truly bad movie, and the Matrix moves in there did not help it at all. And as far as Mummy Returns...I didn't care for that movie at all, and won't buy the DVD when it comes out.

So, for part two to this question...Will Matrix 2 have to come up with something new now that the moves they used in the first movie are so overkilled?

There should be a way to copyright things like this, or something to stop other movies from ripping it off so much.

Maybe they'll be even slower in the sequel!!! Seriously though, enough is enough. This is why I recommend everyone to go see RUSH HOUR 2 becuase that movie is gonna be fully devoid of all this computer stuff. Pure Chan!

Yay! I love Jackie Chan. I hate it when people say his movies suck, cuz the story isn't good. That's not what Jackie Chan movies are about. I'm pretty excited about Rush Hour 2.

In SHREK's case. It's understandable. Not because it was a kick-ass movie, but because it was a spoof of the Matrix, and they pulled it off without a hitch.

if i was making the next 2 matrixes i wouldnt want to use these action type sequences but it would have to be in the movie because of the way the matrix works.

That's true, that is the way the Matrix works, so there is a valid, reasonable explanation for the movements in that movie. Which is all the more reason why the moves from that movie need to stop being copied, because too many people use them gratuiously, without explanation in their own movie or TV show of how the heck their characters can move like that. I mean, heck, will we suddenly see a fad of people crawling on walls if the Spider Man movie is successful? I could see it now...Drew Barrymore starts to crawl on the walls with no explanation in the next Charlies Angels movie (which will probably get made, I dread.) And in the name of "spoof." Yeah, right.

CHARLIE'S ANGELS 2 is on the way, infact. 2003, likely. I think they will die down soon enough. MATRIX 2 is due next summer (I think) or the summer after so they can't spend too much more time doing all the scenes like that. Then again, the kind of camera work stuff was around before hand for those damn GAP comercials.

And RUSH HOUR 2 will rock!

the thing in Shrek wasn't that bad. Because it didn't totally stop. She like fidigted with her hair while it was all stopped. Still a definite reference to Matrix..but...we've been seeing references to Star Wars for over 20 years...will it ever end? probably not..

Oh..and, Charlies Angels 2? Heaven forbid!!!! The first was corny....

YARGH! What a terrible movie excuse for pretty girls posing! The dodging bullet slow-mo was bad, but Cameron Diaz jumping in the air and kicking ten times before coming down was REALLY bad!

    I disliked--

--The Matrix because it was an uneven mix-mash of esistentialist philosophy (which states that things exist because you believe/percieve them to) and slick CGI that was utterly incomprehensible plotwise. There are few movies I walk out on before the credits roll; this was one of them.
