    Weekend Box Ofice: Apes Rule

    Like This Thread!
Planet of the Apes stormed into the box office this weekend and easily took the crown with an amazing box officing opening. JP3 fell the expected 50%, but will likely reach $200 million. Here's the top 10:

    1. Planet of the Apes - $69,550,000 million ($69.6 mill)
    2. Jurassic Park 3 - $22,500,000 million ($124.8 mill)
    3. America's Sweethearts - $15, 700,000 million ($59.4 mill)
    4. Legally Blonde - $9,000,000 million ($59.8 mill)
    5. The Score - $7,100,000 million ($49.2 mill)
    6. Cats & Dogs - $4,515,000 million ($81.5 mill)
    7. Dr. Dolittle 2 - $4,175,000 million ($100.8 mill)
    8. The Fast & The Furious - $3,800,000 ($132.2 mill)
    9. Scary Movie 2 - $2,600,000 ($67 mill)
    10. Shrek - $1,700,000 ($255.5 mill)

This must've been a great weekend for the box office! It looks like the summer lull has been cured for now. While there are stillsome more big movies coming out, I doubt they'll match the weekends that JP3 and POTA had.

WOW! When Tuesday comes and the OFFICIAL final box office tally is released, POTA will hold the record for best opening of a non-sequel! Plus POTA will be the number 2 best opening EVER bumping this years The Mummy Returns which opened to a $68 million dollar opening to # 3 best opening of all time. Still remaining best opening champ is The Lost World with a $72 million dollar Friday through Sunday opening! In my opinion TMR and POTA deserve their best opening spots, these were really fun movies to watch!

Next weekend's opening movies are Rush Hour 2, and Disney's The Princess Diaries. My gf and her sister and I caught a sneek preview of The Princess Diaries Saturday night. Surprisingly it was a REALLY good movie! It reminded me of a female version of King Ralph, which that movie was pretty good too. It was neat to see Julie Andrews back on the screen. The theater was completley sold out for it! I don't usually care for G rated movies, but this one was good, plus it surprisnly clocked in at 1 hour and 50 minutes! I think Rush Hour 2 will come in at number 2 next weekend with The Princess Diaries at number 3, POTA at number 1 again, and JP3 at number 4.

I really want to see POTA this Monday, but I might have to go Tuesday. And hopefully I can see Final Fantasy after that.

    - I haven't seen FF either. I may just wait for video. I heard a rumor that the Spider-Man trailer will be on that DVD. SOny tends to include trailers on the discs that were there threatrically.

    - I think Rush Hour 2 will be #1 with a $40 mill + weekend.

    - Princess Diaries will premiere with around 20 mill, giving it the #3 spot.

    - Apes me stay ontop with $45 mill, but I think will fall to around $35 - 30 mill.

    - JP3 will get about $13 mill, AS will do about $8 mill.
