I agree, this was a great show. Many celebrities were on there too and the show was great fun. I'd love it if they put the best ones on DVD.

Anyway, they are being rerun, at least on Odyssey. It's on every after noon.

I take that back...I looked, looks like Odyseey cut the show back to once a week. Dang, it wasn't that long ago I saw it on in the afternoon. Maybe they will return it to weekday afternoons. But either way, Odyssey is the channel to watch for the classic episodes of the Muppet Show.

Anybody remember the one with Mark Hamill? I'd love Lucas forever if he put that on one of the Star Wars DVDs.

What is Odyssey? I don't think I've ever heard of that channel.

(caution: I'm gonna start, and who knows when I'll stop....)

Anyways, I just saw Muppets From Space the other day, and Muppets Take Manhattan the day after that, and I must say I'm thinking the exact same thing. When these movies came out, in fact ever since we lost Jim Henson, I was worried how the Muppets would do with their new projects, but Muppet Treasure Island and Muppets from Space were really funny and really great. I'm so glad they came out so well.

As for the show, I'm afraid I haven't seen it since Nick stopped showing it. And that is quite a long long while ago. Someone REALLY should put that show in a well advertised spot, everyday.

The Muppets were always great, way back when I grew up with them, all the way to today. That news we got from The Daily Show always enters my mind though. Some German company owns and completely hates the Muppets, so they want to sell them. I forgot the outcome, but the part that sticks in my mind is how he said the franchise is useless to have, because The Muppets have no popular standing today.

Well first of all, screw him! And secondly, it makes perfect sense that The Muppets aren't popular today, because today really really sucks. We're overrun with crap, and the large majority of the masses chose that crap to be what's popular. Beware. If you insult my childhood, there will be a nasty reckonning.

I've heard that they're trying to make new episodes of The Muppet Show (not the same name, but similar idea of course) to sell through syndication.

You can get various Muppet clips from this site http://www.henson.com/hmoment/hmomen...ives_body.html

    Odyssey

Odyssey is a cable channel that's not available in all basic packages, but I am lucky (?) enough to have it. Their programming tends to be more conservative. I think the most wild comedies I've seen on there are Too Close for Comfort, Kate and Ally, and ALF. They do show the Muppet Show too. We have it on Comcast here in Kansas City, so I am sure there has to be somebody who carries it in New York, of all places! It's hard to find in all the markets, tho.

I just checked Yahoo's TV site...Odyssey is out of New York City.

I wish I had that channel. I miss Alf and the Muppets, those were good shows
This is very similar to the suggestion put forward by the Quirmian philosopher Ventre, who said, "Possibly the gods exist, and possibly they do not. So why not believe in them in any case? If it's all true you'll go to a lovely place when you die, and if it isn't then you've lost nothing, right?" When he died he woke up in a circle of gods holding nasty-looking sticks and one of them said, "We're going to show you what we think of Mr Clever Dick in these parts..."

Alf's on Sci-Fi Channel. Not sure when, but I know people talk about it.

Yesterday morning on HBO they played Muppets Take Manhattan and the Muppets in Space side by side. Nice.

I think there are Mupput Show DVDs out there. I KNOW there are VHS of it.

    I've never heard about that.

I've never seen ALF on sci fi, but then again I don't watch it during the day time, but I don't believe the show is on there now, anyway.

And what region coding are those Muppet Show DVDs? I can't find any in region one.

I've definitely seen Alf on TV Land, but that might have been during a stunt. A scan of today's schedule reveals nothing.
But I distinctly remember watching it a few months back at a friend's place on TV Land.

I seem to remember that, too. Wasn't that during the week they did their tribute to 80's sit coms? Or was that on Nick At Nite? I forget, the two networks sometimes are so similar in programming, interchanging shows frequently.

Who remembers that ALF movie they made after the series? I never saw the whole thing, but did see the last half of it. I didn't think it was that funny, but it was rather interesting.

As stated, I'm not sure when it's on, if ever, I've just heard people tell me it's on.

And the Muppet Show collected eps I've seen commercials for, but not in stores. However, I haven't been in a store for months...

I don't rememberr a movie, but I DO remember an Alf cartoon series. It was based on his home planet with his real family. Still have a toy from it.

I've seen a bunch of cable ads for Muppet Show tapes. Also, the latest issue of SW Insider has info on the Mark Hamill episode (volume 2) and how to order it.

I've seen ads for the Muppet Show tapes, too, and sadly, no DVD. Bummer.

    The ALF movie

I do. I watched it in college. At least they answered the questions that were left open in the series finale--although it's sad that his Earth family completely disowned him and relocated to some remote region. You'd think Brian or Lynn (who was a hot little number, IMO) would fight their parents on that decision....
Fav line from the movie: "What's the difference between toilet paper and a shower curtain?" "I don't know." "So you're the one!"
I hear Max Baer (ALF's "daddy") got arrested recently for doing unmentionable things with male transients....

Thanks for the deviant news story there, Dr. For some reason, the more "clean" a TV show is, the richer the scandals are behind them. I suppose now we will see ALF, THE TRUE HOLLYWOOD STORY! Hmmmm...I'd watch that.

    Hmmm....

In one episode Kate, the mother, was concerned that her daughter Lynn was spending a lot of time with ALF and the two were getting too friendly. She said to her husband something to the effect of, "I'd like to have grandchildren I'm not embarassed to show people." Again, make of that what you will....

BTW, love your avvy, Cal. Very...necrophiliac.

Yes, I believe that ALF was on TV Land during the tribute to the 80's. I remember that they had other 80's marathons at the tme and were running a lot of commercials for it. Sorry if this reply is a little late.

The ALF movie was okay, I pretty much agree with what's been said in terms of story. Not too funny, but resolved the storylines.

    Thanks for the compliment, Dr!

You know, I picked up on that uh....tension...in the show when I used to watch it way back. It alwasy intrigued me, and I even wrote an ALF story in school (well, not for school, but while I was going to school) that explored this a tad further. I was going thru my Alan Moore influence stage, and trying to add grit and reality to pop culture icons. It didn't work out too well. The story was...well, disturbing.
