This comes from my local paper here in Portland...
"Not surprisingly, FX has ordered a second season of "The Shield," which has earned great reviews and strong ratings in it's first seven weeks.
Centering on Vic Mackey and the sometimes off-the-book methods he uses to do his job, "The Shield" has averaged 3.6 million viewers and a 3.2 household rating since it's March 12th debut making it the highest rated original drama on basic cable."
The only thing the article didn't say is whether it will return in the fall for a regular 20 some odd episode season like most shows, or if it will return next March. Son Of The Beach, FX's other original show, returns this June with new episodes like it did last summer. I hope Shield comes back in the fall. Episode 8 airs tonight. I still haven't been able to figure out how many episodes are left in this first season. Normally, 10 to 13 episodes are ordered for a mid-season show. Anyone know?

Cool, this is a very good series that actually looked kinda bad from the first commercials which made it look very overhyped.
