No I think SONY did the right thing by letting Ghost Rider go. It would be the equalvalent of a studio only owning Batman and Hawkman. Fox has the same issue with XMen universe and Fantastic Four, but they will force them together in the same universe somehow. Though comicbook fans can see a link.

Spider-Man universe is just fine if they expanded with a plan. I just think there's so much they can do. I still want my Kraven's Last Hunt film. If they rush job the Venom film, it won't work. However if Sinister six is after Spider-Man 3 then that story would be perfect for Spider-Man 4.

I think if they're smart, expand the universe to other heroes, Marvel or otherwise. Make a deal with Image to make an Invincible movie, then have it cross over with Spider-man (hey, they crossed over in the comics). I see no reason that couldn't work.

Eh, I'd rather not have characters from other companies making appearances in these films. Theres also all the legal red tape between Marvel and Image that Sony would have to cut around, it could result in disaster and just wouldn't be worth it. Ghost Rider being a Marvel property would've made sense.

We sadly won't be seeing Spider-Man crossover with anyone in the films until the franchise is back with Marvel.

Well, its possible they have the rights to Spider Woman too. If so that could make an interesting set up for Peter's parents and espionage stories.

So far I think all the studios are shy to develop female centric superhero films. The track record of Barb Wire, Tank Girl, Elektra and Catwoman kinda gives them reason.

Were any of those good films?

We are in the age of Frozen and Hunger Games. The Marvel Studios and WB need to step up.

Agent Venom is a good way to do a Venom movie but before that I want Eddie Brock done right.

I'm still pondering what they can do with a Sinister Six movie. Though some members of the six are usually more redeemable than others and that could create in-fighting and even a serious showdown between them.

I think they can do well with the Spidey-section of the Marvel universe just fine. Like X-Men, it's almost a continuity onto its own. There's so many characters and storylines they can develop for the Sony franchise.

Yeah, I am wondering if they are going to just skip over Eddie Brock and have Flash Thompson be Agent Venom. I'm not sure how I feel about that because Flash went through a LOT before he became Venom in the comics...

I hope they don't skip Brock, especially after his Spider-Man 3 portrayal.

Unfortunately no. That's why the Studio's don't really want to invest in a superhero film focused on the woman. But then if you look at the talent behind those failures, it's no wonder. They need to handle with care, just like real women (no offense to any ladies on the board).

As for the Spider-Man universe they have a couple of women they could make into films:

    Spider Woman?
    Silver Sable
    Black Cat
Calypso (Not holding her own film but tied with Kraven)

Avi Arad being coy about Carnage showing up in the Venom movie... so maybe they are reusing elements of the old script. I wonder if they can pull off Carnage in a PG-13 movie.
Will Carnage Appear in the Venom Movie? - IGN

Likewise, Matt Tolmach and Avi Arad implied Alistair Smythe and Felicia Hardy's appearances are seeding but when is still a question. Reading between the lines, I think they're a one time cameo for now but they exist in this universe and they could appear in ASM3 or be a bigger part in the next ASM trilogy. Spider Slayers would be interesting but I'm on the fence, there could be Transformers-themed complaints lobbed at them if not done right.

I don't see why Arad is so against the idea of a cross-over. He almost sounds bitter to me...
