Sounds great. I'm glad that Whedon is returning, but I do wonder how he'll try to tie the stories of the next few single films in?

Wow, this is really awesome news. Feels like we got the best of both worlds literally and figuratively with the movie and TV news (though yeah there are some people that don't care for Joss Whedon). There's so much potential with the TV show - S.H.I.E.L.D., spotlight lesser knowns and even use that as a testing point for feasibility, having actors/characters pop in and out... COOL!!

I'm not too interested in the TV series, but it good to know that Joss will be returning. He is one of the main reasons why the first film was awesome.

It's great that he's coming back to do the sequel. Let's hope lightning strikes twice.
I'm also excited for the TV series now. I just hope it'll be enjoyable. Superhero shows on TV that are good are rare. Even worse if the start good, then end up horrible *cough*Heroes*hack wheeze*

    More details.

    http://www.deadline.com/2012/08/joss...ct-avengers-2/

Marvel Studios has weighed in with a statement that confirms the 2015 release date that Deadline had heard about the sequel to The Avengers. “Joss Whedon has signed an exclusive deal with Marvel Studios for film and television through the end of June 2015. As part of that deal, Whedon will write and direct Marvel’s The Avengers 2 as well as help develop a new live action series for Marvel Television at ABC. He will also contribute creatively to the next phase of Marvel’s cinematic universe.”
Nice. Much like in Phase One, where Whedon did a polish on the Captain America script to make it line-up with his vision for Avengers, he will also be doing that for Phase Two. But unlike in Phase One, where he came in at the very end, he's signed on at the start of Phase Two, meaning he will have creative input on every single film up until Avengers 2.

Between writing and directing The Avengers, developing a TV show and his involvement in the other 5 Phase Two films, Whedon is going to be a very busy man over the next 3 years.

I still suspect they'll involve the infinity gems in Phase two. Hopefully, we'll see how they'll tie in the Guardian of the Galaxy with the three sequels.

I agree, I think the Infinity Gems will be the 'Cosmic Cube' of Phase Two. I also think Guardians of the Galaxy will be the 'Thor' of Phase Two and formally introduce the villain of that phase's final villain. So basically, I think Thanos will be the principal villain in Guardians of the Galaxy and he will appear again, probably now with the gems in his possession or in proximity (like Loki was at the end of the Thor movie), in Avengers 2. Otherwise, if there is no difference or progression with the villain, it becomes a bad case of redundancy (conversely Loki appearing in Avengers was good - he traveled the universe, made the deal, turned his sights to Earth, had an army behind him vs. Thor - it was just him and a deal with Frost Giants midway through).

Thank god. I had a weird gut feeling that it was going to be released in 2016.

Wow. That feels a little tight.
I wonder when Ant-Man will come out.
Actually, I should be more concerned about what new heroes we can expect to see. Because truth be told, I'm not too interested in Guradians of the Galaxy.

I wish this had waited until 2016, actually. Well, hopefully the lead ups will be tightly knit.

I think Ant Man may actually come out after Avengers which would be interesting. Maybe it will be a prequel or simply setting up Phase 3.

I still think Avengers will be a trilogy and part two might be a cliffhanger. It's kinda telling that Marvel Studios wanted Silver Surfer and Galactus. This whole cosmic thing is going to go on into the next decade.

    I wouldn't mind if Ant-Man set-up Avengers 3. That would mean Ultron.

    Okay, let's see...

Do we want Clark Gregg (Agent Coulson) return as The Vision?...

    http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansit.../news/?a=65883

    Or, the alternative...

    Vin Diesel?

Well he does have experience playing a robot. I wouldn't mind it as I don't care for the Coulson character.

Von diesel is awful so its a no go for me Coulson as vision isn't ideal but better than Diesel. Personally I think they should turn Jarvis into vision and cast Paul bettanny
