And I'm really looking forward to it. I have to admit they look completely ridiculous in the outfits, but if they are trying for a direct translation of the cartoon, they just might be able to capture the atmosphere and feel as well.

There's a 10% chance the movie could be good, but then again with Prinze in a lead role...welll...I just can't see it. Then again, I'm not a huge fan of the series, either. I may see it if I'm forced to, but I'm not going on my free will.

    Re: Scooby-Doo Teaser Poster

I have serious doubts; unfortunately, I am a "SD: Where Are You?" nut, so I will be required to see it.

It also has Rowan Atkinson in it (which may be good for the movie or very bad for Atkinson).

Nothing is sacred at WB. Excuse the language, but they'll whore out any character if they can make some sweet cash off it. I just can't this movie being enjoyable.

True, but why pick on WB in this regard? Name one other studio that hasn't or wouldn't. The only difference is that WB has vacuumed up so many properties (DC and Hanna-Barbera most prominently) that they have more to exploit.

Come to think of it, that might even be a good thing. With one studio controlling so many, it's hard to find the time to exploit all of them; if the properties were spread around more evenly, surely Universal and Fox and Disney would have already done the Johnny Quest movie, and the Aquaman movie, and the F Troop movie, etc.

Here is a quote from an article at IGN that the cartoon costumes we see will not be worn through out the entire movie.

"One important bit of information that was revealed during the visit, was that the actors only appear in their classic costumes in a small part of the movie, a flashback to their "mystery solving days." In most of the film they're sporting the latest fashions (though all outfits are based on the look of the original characters), and modern haircuts (i.e. Freddie Prinze Jr. has short hair and not the infamous bleached blonde wig). Do I have renewed hope in the production? Yes, and I'm hoping Scott's set visit report makes me a believer."

I felt a lot better when I heard that, but I'm still pissed they got Freddie Prinze Jr. in this movie. Shaggy could have been cast better, but I can live the guy they got. But, with that said, check this out article with an interview the screen writer James Gunn. In it he defends the movie and gets pissed when people make personal criticisms of Prinze Jr. and Matt something. Whoever is playing Shaggy. The second link is from the article that I got the quote from.

I a flashback? Thank you, lord - thios movie may actually be tolderable. I'll take my niece to it, as I do with about every kid flick that comes out, but I'm just not sure what to make of it...As long as it's better than THE FLINTSTONES, I suppose.

Oh, for the love of God, no! Now I WON'T see it. This almost certainly means it will be a live action version of "Scooby Doo on Zombie Island" (or one of the other dreadful recent incarnations). Would "The Brady Bunch" movie have been as good if the Bradys had been in contemporary dress? The fashion and sensibilities of SD are as central to that toon as they were to the Bradys-- more so, IMHO.

Color me weird, but the recent Scooby-Doo videos have been the only ones I can stomach. I never did like the original series... it was just the same thing, over and over and over and over.

Wait, I dug A Pup Named Scooby-Doo too.

As if Scooby-Doo was bad enough (Horrible Animation, terrible music, formulatic plots). This movie version should put Battlefield Earth to shame!

that's a task that'll be hard to beat, as in being worse than Battlefield Earth. just make sure to use plenty of crappy editting techniques. star wipes, uneditted SFX shots, etc...
