"Muppets Most Wanted" Pre-Release Discussion (Spoilers)

    Like This Thread!

It became official an hour ago, so it seemed fitting to announce it here. Image spoilered due to size.

    Spoiler:

Kermit and Miss Piggy made a special appearance at CinemaCon today to make it official: We're making a new Muppet movie!
Yup. It's a signature. Go away if you're expecting something interesting here.

    Spoiler:
All I know is this - it better be as good as the first, if not better, if Disney must do this! I liked the first one, hence my harshness!
Tropes that are ruining Western/European Animation (and any animes involving school):
    Spoiler:
    1. Twins and/or Rich Kids as antagonists; Bullies in general. 2. Annoying jerk sibling characters and/or General sibling characters who hate each others' guts. 3. Hidden Caucasian male dominance (usually subverted to be female in anime, which can be equally as bad – and a real turnoff in general!).

It's a bit of a shame that Jason Segal isn't going to be a part of this, but as long as the rest of the staff is in this, I'll be happy since The Muppets didn't disappoint me.

Great news, but I'm a tad wary that it won't be self-contained like every past Muppet flick has been.

Writer Nicholas Stoller has given some hints at what to expect in some interviews.

But the gist of it is...

    • It's gonna be a "comedy caper".
    • It's gonna center on the Muppets (namely Kermit & Miss Piggy) like in the original 3 movies.
    • New characters are gonna be introduced.
    • While Jason Segal is not likely to return, Walter is coming back.
    • Aiming for a summer 2013 release.

Hard to believe there's already gonna be another Muppet movie. All we need is a new Muppet show & we're set for a Muppet renaissance.

Don't you mean Summer 2013? I would be surprised of another Muppet film will be out to cool our jets after dealing with 'The Avengers' and 'The Dark Knight Rises'
I don't need a signature. I'm too cool for one. LOL

This is great news. I really enjoyed The Muppets and I was hoping that they would be able to make a sequel. Too bad that Jason Segal isn't returning since I thought he was pretty funny in the first movie, but at least Walter is coming back. I really liked him in the first movie. Hopefully, this sequel will be a great follow-up from the previous Muppet movie.

Awesome news. I hope this means that in the eye's of Disney, The Muppets was a success. I thought the movie was charming and very underrated. Then again I also love Muppets Treasure Island and Christmas Carol so maybe I am biased. But this is terrific news for the Muppets and I hope they keep it up.

The Muppets isn't exactly an underrated film. It obtained a 96% score on Rotten Tomatoes, and it managed to become a big commercial success.

Although there aren't any major details about the sequel yet, I think it will be great.

No surprised here at all. Hopefully they put just as much heart into the next Muppets movie as they did the last one.

New Muppets TV show next please!

Glad they are making a sequel. But even then that nostalgia wave The Muppets had and was able to ride into theatres is going to be a tough act to follow. I think they should spend less money on the sequel just in the sense of laws of diminishing returns and what not. The Muppets was a $45 million but still only made $90 million domestically. Which is good but I mean this movie had a *HUGE* marketing campaign. I mean The Muppets were all over the place a few months ago. That costs money.

This topic has been dormant for quite a while, so let's fix that with the first promotional shots from the movie (spoiler-tagged due to size).

So Disney has confirmed that the movie will be titled "The Muppets, Again!"
As much as I loved the last movie, I'd much rather Disney remake The Muppet Show than make another movie.

Do you mean the release date? Disney is planning to release it March 21, 2014.

Also, I really liked the first movie. I'm hoping this one is just as good, or better.

Personally, I think that the Muppets was the best film of 2011.
Also, as of now, the film is competing with Fox's/DreamWorks Me & My Shadow (March 14th, most likely moved back a week) and Rio 2 (April 11th, 3 weeks after The Muppets...Again!), this film will most likely be the first Muppet movie to possibly make over $100 million in the states.
I can wait for the sequel!

New shot from the movie, with Tina Fey as a Soviet officer (not a Nazi) and Kermit (with a weird mole).

Yup. It's a signature. Go away if you're expecting something interesting here.

According to the press release, Kermit's supposed to have a doppleganger named Constantine, maybe that's him??
