"A Good Day to Die Hard" Pre-Release Discussion
So, we know who's playing McClane Junior. Apprently it's Jon Favreau's look-a-like. O.o
-
I think we have a new contender for silliest name in the franchise. It rivals Die Harder it's that corny.
-
The second film isn't called Die Harder. It's Die Hard 2. "Die Harder" was just the tagline, but for some reason people started believing it was the actual title. In any event, yes, I'm also not crazy about the title. But considering that this has been the best action movie franchise around with four enjoyable films so far, I'm not going to lose sleep over the title. (At least it's not the rumored concept where they wanted to pair McClane with Jack Bauer and call it Die Hard 24/7. Now that would give me pause.) I hear the studio is also pursuing Patrick Stewart to play the villain, which would be all kinds of awesome.
-
I like the title, actually. It's no more silly than the other ones.
Stewart as the villain would be awesome...but what are they going to do, make him Hans and Simon's elder brother?

I had the feeling someone was going to call me out on that but I'm lazy so
. Never heard about that DH 24 idea...that would have been odd.

Just for fun, because I can relate anything to Supernatural, Jared Padalecki (Sam Winchester) said at a recent SPN convention that he'd been down to LA to talk to Bruce Willis about playing his son in this movie, but filming would have required a commitment through August and SPN season 8 would start filming in July so he couldn't get away.

I'm sure there's a parody in there. "How can the same guy run into the same family three times?!" LOL! But I'm not expecting another Gruber to appear. It was a great twist for the third film, but to do it again would seem like a been-there-done-that move. I'm looking forward to seeing what they do. The bad guy is said to be a Russian general or ex-general.

Eh, I'm decidedly iffy about this. The director's resume is none too promising and I struggle to think of a good fifth installment of much of anything. I still can't help but feel that 4 was a fluke for actually being awesome and that they should let the franchise go out on a high not and not try to milk too much of a good thing. Still, the prospect of Willis taking up the McClane character again will aways be intriguing to my inner adolescent, and who knows, could be fun.
Not it will most likely do any good, but I encourage any interested parties to sign this petition.

That's sound awesome.

I suppose if one likes 24 also it would be cool. But I couldn't imagine sitting through two hours of a half-Jack Bauer movie in order to see John McClane in action. I think it was only ever a rumor, though.
