Reviews be damned, I enjoyed Due Date. I liked it a little better than The Hangover, to be honest.
Three new movies opened this weekend and all three opened in the top three. Dreamworks Animation's newest film Megamind opened in first place this weekend to $47.6 million. Comparing it to some of their other big movies lately, Kung Fu Panda (June 2008) opened with $60.2 million and finished with $215.4 million. Monsters vs. Aliens (March 2009) opened with $59.3 million and finished with $198.3 million. How to Train Your Dragon (March 2010) opened with $43.7 million and finished with $217.5 million, and Shrek Forever After (May 2010) opened with $70.8 million and finished with $238.3 million.
Director Todd Philips follow up film to The Hangover in Due Date opened in second place with $33.5 million. The Hangover opened in June 2009 with $44.9 million and finished with $277.3 million mostly with the help of great reviews and word of mouth. Due Date unfortunately has been getting not so good reviews. 39% at RottenTomatoes. 52 Fresh and 80 Rotten.
Tyler Perry's newest writing and directorial outing in For Colored Girls debuted in third place with $20.1 million.
In fourth place was Red with $8.8 milillion and a $71.8 million total.
Last weeks number one movie Saw 3D dropped to fifth place this weekend losing nearly 64% in business with $8.2 million and a $38.8 million total.
Out of the top 12 this weekend is The Town (13th), Easy A (16th), and Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole (17th).
Opening next weekend are two potential action blockbusters. First up is the alien invasion film Skyline (rated PG-13) starring Eric Balfour, Donald Faison, Scottie Thompson, and Brittany Daniel.
And the other new film of the weekend is the runaway train flick Unstoppable (rated PG-13) with Denzel Washington, Chris Pine, Rosario Dawson, and Kevin Chapman.

Follow me on Twitter: @JustinianFlynn - Complicated name, I know but that means there's some good stuff, right?
Quite awesome to see RED hanging in there. One of the best films I've seen all year.
I feel that a big problem with today's society is that we don't listen to our fellow man -- especially when I'm talking.

I'm surprised Due Date is getting such bad reviews. Not because I think it looks any good, but because there seems to be this notion in Hollywood that whatever Todd Phillips touches turns into instant comedy gold under his watch.
One of these days, I'll get around to watching The Hangover. Maybe then will I finally understand all the buzz surrounding it, the sequel, and why every future project involving someone who was in that movie is always being touted as the next big comedy blockbuster.
You know, I saw it on Saturday afternoon and the theater was packed. Since I loved the movie, I was pleased. Surprised but pleased.
Speaking of great movies, I was also surprised that The Town was still playing--as I take note of it falling out of the top 12.
Wait a minute, Due Date got 52 good reviews. Granted, it also has 80 bad ones, how's that equal only 39%, or mean that's it's not doing so good (critically)?
If there's any math wizard here who can help me understand this I'm all ears, but honestly I really think Rotten Tomatoes needs to adjust it's percentages.
If it is, then explain why it has much better scores than Due Date.

With a clever script and hilarious interplay among the cast, The Hangover nails just the right tone of raunchy humor, and the non-stop laughs overshadow any flaw.

Doesn't sound like absolute crap to me.
More harm has been done by people panicked over societal decline than societal decline ever did.

Monterey Jack was stating his opinion. Nothing wrong with that. Just because a movie is popular and did well at the box office doesn't mean that everyone is required to like it.
Even with The Town coming to DVD and Blu-Ray next month, I'm surprised that it's still in theaters. I never got to seeing either this or RED yet but I wouldn't be surprised if the latter gets released either in January or February 2011 in stores.
As for this week's Top 10, I imagine that Harry Potter VII Part I will be making a lot of cash. At least, I hope so since there aren't a lot of films that are screaming out at me to see at this tail end of 2010
I don't need a signature. I'm too cool for one. LOL
52 + 80 = 132 total reviews. So if I divide 52 by 132 I get 0.393 or roughly 39% after conversion.
Anyway yes we all have our opinions but let's refrain from just calling a movie crap and nothing more. Also if someone has a different opinion about something don't jump them because like I said everyone has their own opinions.
Yogi Bear hasn`t been on TV since the early 90's. IMO, the movie is totally out of the blue. I don`t think any little kids really know who Yogi Bear is without their parents or college-aged siblings telling them.
Plus, IMO, it looks terrible. The trailer has every mark of an overblown CGI cash-in with likely many gross scenes.
Personally this fall looks to have more movies than usual that I would see though, with those previously mentioned as well as the next Harry Potter in a few weeks.
I am the squid of the vapor surrounding your dreams, sorrow, nightmares, and bootie pants. So watch out about that.

You mean early 00's, and even then that was around when you would stop seeing Yogi on basic cable. CN still showed the cartoons until at least 2001 or 2002 before shifting them off to Boomerang, and even then, they still air daily on that channel.
I do agree that Yogi jsut isn't as popular now as he was years ago though, but I have to echo Shawn's comment; if the Alvin movies could do as well as they have despite their cartoons not airing for years, the Yogi movie has about as much of a chance to do well.
Who knows, though. Families seem to have a lot of options this season, between Megamind, Tangled, Harry Potter, and Narnia, among other movies I'm probably forgetting. Yogi could get lost in the shuffle.

Friday box office....
1) Unstoppable- $8.1 million
2) Megamind- $7.8 million ($67.5 million)
3) Due Date- $5.5 million ($49 million)
4) Skyline- $4.7 million
5) Morning Glory- $3 million
It looks like it's gonna be a close race between Unstoppable and Megamind. I think when factoring in the kid equation, I'd guess a possible second weekend win by Megamind.

I'm really gonna have to see Megamind, it looks funny any ways.
One Piece fan. Bleach fan.
Skyline... ouch. Although, I really don't know what I was expecting. The acting in the trailer is appalling, and the effects are far from spectacular. I just thought people would flock to an alien invaders movie.

At least 15 percent of the moviegoing audience experiences headache and eyestrain during 3-D movies. I'm one of them. And no, I don't need corrective eyewear.
