Smallville "Lazarus" Season Premiere Talkback (Spoilers)

    Like This Thread!
Who swarmed Oliver? The Green Arrow was communicating with Chloe when he was surrounded on all sides by beings he managed to say were not Kandorian. Tess Mercer was left clinging to life by Zod and seemed to pass away, a mysterious old woman entering her room as the medical staff left. Clark's final battle with Zod sent him away with the rest of the Kandorians, but to do it, he had to allow himself to be stabbed with the blue Kryptonite Zod was using to keep himself from ascending.

"You already destroyed my first home; I won't let you take this one."

Clark falls back to Earth! The final season of Smallville premieres tonight at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.

so, we see the original Lex, Dead. Apparently we are lead too believe either HE, or Papa Kent sent Clark back into the world of the living.

Papa Kent can now come back to the living world at will.....Jor-El is probably back to his old 'I'm just messing with you' tricks....that's the only part that came out of left field in this premier.........

Not all that bad. Anyone wanna guess if that really was Rosenbaulm in an un-credited appearance?

Such a very interesting episode. That final scene was so well done. Man, I wish Pa could appear more often. What's a more terrible way for Darkseid to enrage Clark by tacking his old man's form?

I also liked how they addressed Clark's recent dark era. Very fitting.

I'm a little confused. The Jor-El in the fortress said that he didn't choose to send Clark back, implying not only that Clark's near-death experience happened, but also that Jor-El of the fortress was aware of it and was the voice in it. How could that possibly be? I thought the Jor-El in the fortress was merely an A.I. computer made by the real Jor-El. "He" even stated as such ("I am his memory, his will."). If this Jor-El is a computer, how would "he" have the power to interact with Clark in the afterlife and/or some sort of limbo? Wouldn't it have been the real Jor-El that communicated with Clark? Unless they have decided to retcon the AI into actually being Jor-El's true consciousness/soul/spirit...

His voice was able to reach a 'mostly dead' Clark...probably because he was still just 'mostly dead'. The Foretress has shown to be able to do some pretty influential stuff so being able to communicate with a somewhat still alive Clark seems plausible.

    Thank you, The Princess Bride.

SPOILERS are all in the post so skip it if you don't to know anything.

It was awesome having Pa Kent back, and it proves again that they killed off the most influential character in Clark's life for no real good reason.

And I was surprised they actually used Lex as the main villain for this episode even though his original actor was no where to be seen. At first I thought it was going to be cheesy, but they actually did a good job.

Lois teasing Clark was a fun bit that I thought worked really well, and is another reason they should have played up this angle 2 seasons ago instead of having him still infatuated with Lana!

I honestly have no idea where they are going with Chloe's storyline, but she deserves a happy ending. I just hope that they get her back in one piece and without any mind control or such from Darkseid.

Speaking of Darkseid, I am hoping that he turns out to be an actual entity and not some cloud like Galactus in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.

And anyone think that Jor-El was being a little, I dunno, out of character? Makes me wonder if Braniac or someone messed with the programming. If not then they just set the character back like 6 seasons. Or maybe he's once again testing Clark, trying to push him and see if Clark's dark side is as near the surface as Jor-El thinks.

I think they made pretty good use of Jonathan's death in this episode. Referencing that it was his own in-ability to deal with his anger that killed him was a pretty good call back. Looking back it really does make sense that he'd die from all that stress he was under.

I agree, it makes sense. but just that few minute scene showed why Smallville needs Pa Kent, he more than Jor-El could ever hope to be is far more vital to Clark, and exactly who Clark needs to guide him. Not some Bi-polar voice in the frozen fortress, who relishes mind games with an already unsure Clark.

to me Jor-el's always been a bigger villien than the luthaurs
he's brainwashed clark and tried to kill pa kent and froze clark in ice saying clark can't have any freewill at all and has punished him everytime he thinks for himself

to me a hero even superman makes the chose to be a hero themselves
theres a differentice between destinty and enslaving someone from beyond the grave

Obviously, I agree. I have never liked Jor-El as portrayed in the series.

i thought the kandorian jor-el from last year was an excellent portrayal. made me wonder how that jorl-el could end up the fortress jor-el. ever since they got terrence stamp to do the voice of jor-el, i thought that, MAYBE, it was actually general zod leading clark on.

If they dragged out the finale for 5 years without ending with that iconic image, then the entire series has failed in its premise.

At least it's off to a good start. Having not cared about Smallville for years, I'm still interested to see if they can properly wrap it up.

They can't properly wrap-it up because they're still trying to play catch-up with their wacky mistake plotlines. I mean really....Ollie and Chloe? No. Just....no. He threatened her in season eight, anyone remember that? "You killed someone too Chloe, while under the 'control' of Brainiac, so don't judge me for killing Lex!!!" And now they're doing it? Ugh.

    Gross.

Kid Rabbit, I stand up and applaud all you said in your post (if you not your spelling, no offence) because it perfectly sums up what's wrong with this show's take on Jor-El. Although them bringing his bad side back to light makes me think they've got some last minute twist to pull over us, and claim Jor-El was Brainiac/Darkseid/Zod all along. Not that that would make any sense, mind you but...whatever.

I think it's going to be a mad dash to the finish line to be honest.

And I'm hoping (really really hoping) that they didn't get the costume from Superman Returns as a prop to fake out the audience.

i'm really hoping the series finale will be a 2 hour "superman" episode.

at the very least i want this in the final episode (whether it's an hour or more):
everything is wrapped up before the last commercial break. the show is more or less over. we return from the break and we see a "______ years (or months) later" subtitle. the remaining segment before the closing credits is a "superman" episode.

i'm also hoping michael rosenbaum to return as lex. like he's doing anything anyway, so just comeback for a small appearance in a non flash back sequence (maybe in said "superman" segment/episode). and also use the john williams theme or any other williams music. that was an impressive use of john williams music in the first christopher reeve episode. let's get another spectacular music arrangement and queue.

wb originally offered a costume worn by christopher reeve, but the people in charge of the show felt that it didn't fit in with smallville. the costume from this episode IS a suit worn by brandon routh.

Ollie also had a bug up his ass the whole season. How old do you think Chloe is, fourteen? That comment's not something that's going to ruin a relationship a year later.
