Any Donnie Yen fans around here?

I'm surprised at the lack of attention for this Asian talent. In fact, I loathed the lack of screen time he had in "Blade 2". And to make things worse, "Ip Man" is still not officially out in North America yet. What gives?

By the way, I've just finished watching "Bodyguards and Assassins" where he has a 10 minute fight with MMA fighter Cung Le. Pretty damned fast and you can see there was a little parkour going on as well.

I'm a fan of almost all martial arts stars, but the 2 I pay attention to the most is Tony Jaa and Donnie Yen. I'm not really big on Jackie Chan and Jet Li these days since they keep bringing in the wiring that tends to be a big turn off for me these days.

But yeah, I'm definately a big fan of Donnie Yen's movies. I think the last one I saw was Killzone (?) with Samo Hung as the villain. The story, while it wasn't so great, but I loved the fighting that was in it. Fast paced and intense, and from what I can remember there were no wires involved.

Even though I'm a fan, I'm not aware of all his movies. I need to do some digging.

Ip Man 2 is coming out to theatres in April and already has a teaser trailer circulating on the internet. As for the Jackie Chan thing, guy's getting old and he is trying to dabble into different things. Jackie's "Shinjuku Incident" was actually a decent movie without the usual Jackie Chan stunts and such.

"Bodyguards and Assassins" was pretty good particularly for his fight with Cung Le. I thought it felt a little slow in the first half (too much talk about democracy) but the action picks up later on. You might be able to find it on bluray and DVD now since it has just released on both formats last week.

I'm a fan of Hong Kong cinema in general, but with the death grip that Weinsteins and Disjey have on so many classics of genre, it's often difficult to be a fan.
Not it will most likely do any good, but I encourage any interested parties to sign this petition.

Indeed I really enjoyed it and have the uk Blu-Ray on order.

On the subject of Martial Arts Movies.I feel Yuen Biao should have had a bigger career than he did.

    The guy was amazing!
