Batman: I suppose it's useless to tell you to leave.
Superman: I wouldn't miss this for anything.
Batman: Your funeral.
Superman: Already had one.

Why not, you know, a sequel, at least?
The whole "re-make" crap is getting really ridiculous.
I can't wait for the remakes to Superbad, The Hangover, Matrix, It's A Wonderful Life, Tootsie, etc. (sarcasm.) Seriously, this is too much!

I love the Vacation movies, and I like that this one actually does sound like a semi-sequel, featuring a grown-up Rusty and a possible Chevy Chase cameo, rather than a flat-out remake. And I doubt they would, but I'd love to see them bring back the original Rusty, Anthony Michael Hall.![]()

That was brutal!! This coming from a man who owns the original four Vacation movie boxset (I love all of them.) Personally, I don't want any sequels or remakes done for the Vacation series, just let them stand as classics. Now if someone wants to make a comedy about a family going on vacation and going through hell to survive it, that's fine I suppose. I guess that's the thing with movie studios today, rather than making impostor versions of movies they decide "hey, let's just remake it!"
This one sounds almost like a sequel or spin-off though now that Rusty is a grown up with kids. So with them taking a trip to Wally World before it closes forever, will Rusty and his family nearly repeat the trip that happened years ago? Will they reuse the same cast from the Hotel Hell Vacation (they did say Chevy Chase as Clark Griswold will likely appear) and finally, what about Cousin Eddie? Perhaps he and his son grown up will appear too.
This sounds a little silly to me, can't we just forget about the Griswolds and do a different movie with the same general concept?
Can someone please change the title? The article states that it's more of a sequel than a reboot. I don't even know why Variety said it's a reboot when the rest of their article says it'll be about the son and Chevy is coming back as Clark. Btw I'm not writing this angrily at the OP or Variety.com but it may have come off like that. If I were saying these words I'd be very calm.
Remakes are just another way of Hollywood saying: "We've run out of ideas!"

It was no "Vacation" and it sucked not to have Anthony Michael Hall reprise his role as Rusty, but it kept with the same tradition of disastrous vacations in the series.
Anyway, as for a movie starring Rusty and his family and not Clark (even though he's supposed to be in it), I'm pretty skeptical, but I'll wait until we see footage before I criticize it.

I just realized that I didn't really weigh-in on this. I'm a bit skeptical because they'll have to make sure that it appeals to today's audience. That's not to say that today's comedy is bad but it may differentiate from the classic films.
