I gotta say, they've treated this season well for the most part. I've yet to see volumes 3 and 4, but I'd say this is by far the strongest of the three that I have seen. I am loving Samuel and the carnies. It's really great to see someone believing in what they do so much that it seems as if it becomes the right or good thing to do. For the most part, Samuel doesn't seem like a villian. I just hope that what they have done with him so far doesn't end up blowing up in his face.

This was a perfect opportunity to bring back West, even if it would have just been a cameo. I'd like to see that kind of continuity, especially since he and Claire are "Facebook friends". Cameos could never hurt an actor that isn't actually working (at least I haven't seen him doing anything else).

Nathan's funeral actually choked me up just a little bit. Do they normally have that kind of funeral for senators? With the guns and the flag being presented? Or was he part of the military and I've forgotten that detail?

So many other questions and cool things happened in these two episodes! Sound lady's ability is expanded upon! Meeting a new power (another life giver/healer?)! Sylar loses his killer instinct! Claire getting the best of the duplicator guy! Doyle's power (puppet master) is weakening??? Iron Maiden, hahaha. Ack, I think my brain is in overdrive now.

Upon This Rock: 4 1/2 stars
    Let It Bleed: 4 stars

Not bad. With two episodes in a row, it seems like they are teasing us with this Vanessa sub-plot.

I love Samuel with Noah's Box of Specials. So much potential for new characters and old ones to return. The file of Ian, the bum, was a nice easter egg. Here's what I could make out:

    CASE #45923
    AGENTS: BENNET, NOAH
    RAINS, CLAUDE

    NAME: IAN MICHAELS
    DOB: 5/15/65 (?)
    NATIONALITY: AMERICAN
    PLACE OF BIRTH: BRONX, NY
    HEIGHT: 5'11'' (?)
    HAIR: BLACK
    BUILD: MEDIUM
    STATUS: SINGLE
    OCCUPATION: UNKNOWN
    TAGGED: 8/25/94 (?)
    LAST KNOWN LOCATION: CENTRAL PARK

    THREAT LEVEL: LOW
    SEX: MALE
    RACE: AFRICAN AMERICAN
    WEIGHT: 175
    EYES: BROWN
    COMPLEXION: DARK
    SCHOOLING: MBA
    TAG TYPE: GPS MICROCHIP

ABILITY: THE SUBJECT HAS THE ABILITY TO SPAWN VEGETATIVE LIFE.
So glad to see Hiro and Ando back together again and off to free Suresh it seems.

Samuel's knowledge of Emma's power was good surprise. So she can use music as mind control...pretty useful for summoning hordes of specials to your Carnival and become all powerful, Samuel. He totally pwned Sylar...well thanks in part to being surrounded by specials and Nathan's lasting influence. But it was interesting they revisited Sylar's Empathic Absorption in the Lydia scene.

Nathan's fake death was a nice nod to Kennedy.

Doyle's commentary on Claire cracked me up. So did Noah's line with tea when he offered it to Edgar and Samuel's special drawer for Vanessa art. "Of course, you're British."

The end with Sylar at the window was a creepy nod to West outside Claire's room in Volume 2.

It was revealed during Volume 3-4 on the show and graphic novels so I'll highlight in case you want to wait to know.

    Spoiler:
Yup, he was in the military, Navy to be specific. Graduated with honors from Annapolis (Naval Academy) in Maryland

What sucks is that now that the show is good again, it will now undoubtedly be canceled...which isn't a bad thing as long as we're given a proper ending and not a cliffhanger.

Any this episode was BOSS. Frankly everything happening here has washed the bad taste of the fugitives arc out of my mouth ! Now, we just need Micah, which will be hard because I'm sure his voice has changed and he's like 6'0 tall or something. ha.

Upon this rock was so boring. Watching Claire Run around looking for answer just doesn't do it for me granted they gave us development on characters but did we really need Claire's perspective on things? It just feel like Claire is the producers go to girl for everything.

Let it be was exciting though. I love how Peter got shot off screen after that long speech :anime:. And for a minute I thought they were going to finally kill off Sylar but we see him once again trying to get it on. What is it with them trying to pass Sylar as a sex symbol it doesn't work Sylar looks like the creepy ape you see at the zoo that looks sickly and doesn't do anything. And Samuel is really a tricky character. I what what he's doing (even it nods to a certain group that recently did this) and he really seems like a good guy to build a sanctuary but we still know why he's doing it so there is that, although he's believable in his approach.

Heroes is slowly growing back into what it used to be and that kind of seems like it's downfall they're trying to cling to what worked (Sylar, Weird plot twists, Claire adventures, Noah being sneaky) and I'm getting a been there done that feeling. I'm really trying to defend this show but really I guess it's too late.

What I'm sick of, is the adventures of Sylar and Claire show. Hiro was annoying. Other than that it was great

Oh yeah that Hiro hero compilation/metaphoric stuff was lame too. We get it you want to be a real comic hero well get in line cause that's what we all wanted out of this and still haven't got it.

This week's graphic novel is definitely worth a look. It takes Hiro's fanboy-isms to a new level. Ganondorf, Kang & Kodos, Sauron, The Doctor, and even Toad (the Mario character, not the X-Men one) get references...

And best of all, this is just part one...

So I finally watched, and I have to say it was a great return. It set up some good things, my favorite being the Edgar dynamic. He's actually less threatening now.

Also, holy crap, that was a such a stalker ending. Sylar after seasons of the cat and mouse game is just going to well, stop playing. I am at a loss for words I'm scared for Claire and laughing my head off at the exact same time.

I liked these episodes, but honestly Claire is starting to annoy me. She always kicks everyone's arse, and she's a small little thing, yes she can't die, but that doesn't mean she's frickin' Micheal Weston at hand to hand combat.... I liked Samuel and I kinda thought he'd be super powerful once the most powerful special walked into his carnival, and why the heck is Sylar after Claire again, it was for 3 season's her power, what now? I hope he gets the killer instinct back his killings (yes this sounds creepy) were some of my favorite parts of the 1st season, I was very intrigued at what he did with those brains.....
