Summary: Following Bella Swan's ill-fated 18th birthday party, Edward Cullen and his family abandon the town of Forks, Washington, in an effort to protect her from the dangers inherent in their world. As the heartbroken Bella sleepwalks through her senior year of high school, numb and alone, she discovers Edward's image comes to her whenever she puts herself in jeopardy. Her desire to be with him at any cost leads her to take greater and greater risks.

With the help of her childhood friend Jacob Black, Bella refurbishes an old motorbike to carry her on her adventures. Bella's frozen heart is gradually thawed by her budding relationship with Jacob, a member of the mysterious Quileute tribe, who has a supernatural secret of his own.

When a chance encounter brings Bella face to face with a former nemesis, only the intervention of a pack of supernaturally large wolves saves her from a grisly fate, and the encounter makes it frighteningly clear that Bella is still in grave danger. In a race against the clock, Bella learns the secret of the Quileutes and Edward's true motivation for leaving her. She also faces the prospect of a potentially deadly reunion with her beloved that is a far cry from the one she'd hoped for.

I can't believe I'm excited to see this... I'm actually really excited to see Dakota Fanning in it, though. Hah.

I'm not really a big fan of the books. I tried reading the first one. The first movie made me laugh quite a bit. I'm kinda hoping New Moon has some hilarious moments in it as well.

Summit Entertainment's sequel "New Moon" has set box office history in breaking all records for midnight runs, grossing a whopping $26.3 million as it unspooled in 3,514 theaters at 12:01 a.m. Friday.

That easily beats the $22.2 million collected by "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" this summer.

In addition, the re-issue of "Twilight" on screens Thursday night grossed $1.3 million from 2,057 theaters nationwide.
    Well...there ya go.

I thought this was the best part of that review.

Hey, here's what the Spill Crew had to say about this film.

And they REALLY tore it up:

"The Twilight Saga: New Moon" is poised to break its second box office record in a single day.

According to four people who have closely watched ticket sales data today but requested anonymity because they are not authorized to release the information, the teen vampire phenomenon is all but certain to gross more than $67.2 million, the record set by "The Dark Knight" last year for the biggest single-day take at the box office.

By 5 p.m., the movie had already sold more than $50 million worth of tickets in the U.S. and Canada. When evening shows are included, the total will likely be more than $70 million, the people said.

Given the huge amount of pent-up interest among fans, who are rushing out to theaters on opening day, ticket sales are expected to drop significantly on Saturday and Sunday. Nonetheless, a total weekend gross of more than $110 million is all but certain and more than $120 million is very possible. That would give "New Moon" the biggest weekend gross for any movie this year and make it one of the top five pictures of all time at the domestic box office, not accounting for ticket price inflation.

Ticket sales from the 25 foreign countries where "New Moon" is opening this weekend will almost certainly push the worldwide weekend gross to more than $150 million.

Summit Entertainment, the studio behind the "Twilight" films, will release an official total for Friday ticket sales on Saturday morning.
    Fangirls have reached fanboy levels.

Meh, as a Twilight fan who went to a midnight showing last night, I'll just say I loved it. It was sold out and mostly late-teens and twenty-something women with boyfriends or brothers in the theater. Since it was a mostly older audience, there wasn't much in the way of uber squealing, and the few squeals were quickly responded to with a "SHHH!" Made enjoying the film much easier.

New Moon is probably my least favorite book in the series, but I quite enjoyed the film. Taylor Lautner was wonderful as Jacob--and pretty buff to boot. I know some pretty staunch Team Edward supporters who were swayed a bit by film Jacob I thought the wolves looked surprisingly good and the sparkling (tehehe) was much improved this go-round.

It felt like a stronger overall film. Of course it's not going to be some high quality classic, but it was quite successful for what it was trying to be in my opinion. There were some cheesy moments, of course, but the dialogue felt less painful this time. I thought the entire package was a big improvement over Twilight, which I also loved (I'm a fangirl, leave me alone).

Also, I thought the Volturi were great. Very eerie and just... wrong feeling. Yay for Dakota Fanning as Jane. I got a kick out of the werewolf-vampire banter ("I'll be back, just as soon as you put the dog out."). And I just adore Charlie.

If you don't enjoy the books, you're probably not going to like the movie. And that's fine. But all the hate is just plain silly. =/

I proudly give New Moon a ****/***** Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going listen to my New Moon soundtrack

Twilight movie gets twilight rating. My brother went to see it, and told me it stunk, so I give it a 3 star.

I'm hearing a similar response. People, or should I say girls, are saying that the relationship between Bella and Jacob is better developed. In the first movie, Bella and Edward were kinda ridiculous by comparison.

How can you rate a movie you didn't even see?

is the general consensous that the movie bombs, but somehow brings in lots of money? If that is true, I am ashamed to think of what our movie industry has brought out (wasn't this movie made in less than a year?).

oh, and my brother told me 3, i would give it much less.

I'm sure he was being generous. This is a movie you can rate just by watching the trailer.

There are knee jerk reactions to things that are popular with a disliked demographic (See- Harry Potter) and then there's just plain bad movies/books/etc. This is assuredly the latter. Poorly written, poorly acted, and just plain horrendus. It's not a case of "don't let the fanpeople disuade you.". This is just an awful movie. You know a film is bad when it comes across like a poor man's Underworld.

Summit Entertainment’s “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” tore up the box office record for best opening day, grabbing the title away from Warner Bros. “The Dark Knight,” and earning a spectacular $72.7 million yesterday at 4,024 theaters.

I'm not surprised that girls are eating this up, but in no way will it lessen the headaches when they look back on it in 3 years or so.

It's times like this you really appreciate an actionfest like the Blade movies. Mostly because for all their posturing (see- Just about any scene of Blade being a BA) the films still have a coherency and good acting among the chaos. (We'll ignore Trinity).

There's nothing offensive about tween girls liking this so long as they shake their heads a few years from now.
