The future of the X Files

    Like This Thread!
I still say they should have cancelled this show after season seven, but oh well. Now I think we just have a mess on our hands. Scully is definately outta there after this season, and Mulder will NEVER make an appearance on the show again (kinda hard to write him out, I think, given his involvement with Scully at the end of last season). I hope Chris Carter axes this show this year. I am not interested in seeing the show become Dogget and Reyes. Why does Fox have to keep running their great shows into the ground. First the Simpsons did a nose dive in quality and now I think X Files is about to take a serious nose dive. I might be wrong tho, the past season was better than I had anticipated.

    My thoughts.........

I think this will definitely be the LAST season of the X-Files. Chris Carter is going to have to get a clue that while Doggett is a well developed and interesting character, no fans give a crap.

I think the X-Files took a nose dive THIS SEASON, even though I thought this season was excellent.

Let me explain: This season was an excellent season. A lot of questions were answered, and the episodes were beautifully written............however.............

............The moment David Dochvoney (cant spell name) said "enough" and the moment Gillian Anderson said "I agree" THE SHOW WAS OVER! OVER! OVER!

The people behind the X-Files are starting to piss me off now. They don't seem to understand that the show's STORY and CHARACTERS go hand in hand. The X-Files is the story of Agent Mulder's search for the truth of the existence and conspiracy of aliens on earth. And then Agent Scully is so important to Agent Mulder that taking either of them out of the show ENDS THE SHOW.

So I think the show actually took a giant nose dive with this now concluded season since David Dochvoney didn't want to be in half of the episodes.

I really like Dogget and Robert Patrick who plays him, but the X-Files is NOT HIS STORY, and I think the writers of the show are insane to think they can fool the fans and audience into thinking it could be his story.

    NO WAY!

I think this next (and hopefully LAST) season of the X-Files will be half interesting and half crap.

The explanation to Mulder's disappearance will be interesting to see, but at the same time, I can't see how the explanation will be anything but laughable.

And with Gillian Anderson no longer enthused this show is just going to plummet into it stops breathing all together.

Best Case scenario would be after this season Gillian Anderson says "SEE YA!" and Mitch Pelegi (A.D. Skinner) says "LATER!" and X-Files gets cancelled.

All the original cast members should sign a treaty and leave the show for good.

I wouldn't mind it if they continued the story of Dogget and Reyes, but only if they change the title of the show.

The X-Files is not the X-Files without it's main characters.

There is no "broader story" to the X-Files. It is Mulder's quest. Period. And I think all fans would agree.

David Duchvoney is gone. I dont blame him. He's said a million times he's up for a X-Files movie franchise, so I think the people behind the show are idiots for just not concentrating on that.

X Files should have endened with season eight (I want to see the alternate ending they filmed) and they should have done one or two more movies and let the franchise come to a conclusion.
