Cats & Dogs
Kiss of the Dragon
Scary Movie 2
Not a very interesting weekend coming up at the movies... we've got all out war (Cats & Dogs), the arse-kicking karate action (Kiss of the Dragon), and the sequel that was never meant to be (Scary Movie 2).
If the trend of gross out comedies and the like is truly on the way out, SM2 shouldn't place too high... Cats & Dogs make get the families out, but probably not enough to pull away from the animated movies or other family movies... and KotD will probably really only appeal to the fans of Jet Li... which I really haven't encountered too many of. Sooo... I'm predicting AI to be on top again this weekend... and who knows how this weekend's releases will place... not a very exciting week... however, the week after... the Fantasy begins!

You read it... you can't un-read it!
Same here, though more for how goofy the premise sounds (though the fact that cats are portrayed as evil and dogs as "good" might not make this much of a strong-seller to cat-lovers ;-)Originally posted by The Mad Hatter

Other films:
Agreed that A.I. (depending on word-of-mouth) might stay on top....
"Scary Movie 2": Being a sequel, and the shock value probably not being able to top the first film's (among audiences), it might not have that long a life span at the box office....
"Kiss of the Dragon": after "fast and the furious", should do pretty well among fans seeking good old-fashioned mindless action/summer-blockbuster movies (sans any lofty goals/praise like "A.I.", "Shrek", or such). Might be the #2 spot (after "A.I."); Jet Li still has some pull...
"Cats & Dogs": Should pull in families who've already seen "Shrek" and "Atlantis" (possibly repeatedly already), esp. with both films apparently waning in the top-10 rankings admist the newer fare. Though not sure how repeat sales will fare ("Variety"'s review of this film was rather negative)...

Who admits to wanting to see KoTD (along with C&D)....mindless kickboxing action has its allures :-)
