It's on Tues. and Thurs.
I'm learning how to structure a story for the screen. I already know how to write novels (one at a literary agent as we we speak.) so this is kinda new for me.
Anyway, it was kinda fun for me because I was debating with this one dude about animation. We we're talking about sci-fi and whether the Earth ever gets it. Most of us couldn't think of one, but I came up with Titan A.E. One of my classmates looked at me and said
"Psshh that's a cartoon isn't it."
"Yes." I said.
"Psshh we we're npt talking about cartoons, anyone can do a cartoon. You know fall of a cliff and get back up."
"That's not true." I said. "Watch some anime, and no I'm not talking about edited stuff I mean the uncut stuff."
He rolled his eyes.
"You mean Japanimation...hah please."
Anyway, my concept was presented later on. It was a really deep one about this futuristic warrior trying to atone for his past sins. When I mentioned that this would be animated I felt their eyes on me in bewilderment. His freind spoke to me.
"You do know that by the very fact that it is animated, you'll attract kids. I mean even though you may not be targeting it at kids, but they will come.
I nodded my head, this was true.
"I mean what kid does not want to see a cartoon." she said. "With this its like you turn your head for one second and you miss everything."
She was right, and I personally considered it an asset, while she didn't. I told my class that animation was simply the medium, not the essence of what the feature was. But as my teacher said it is good that we can all disagree. I've learned something very important here.
(I must first see the movie. as a good story then form it into one, then as an animated drama.) Not the other way around as I'm accustomed to.
It's on Tues. and Thurs.
Sounds like a lot of fun, I.R!
Keep us posted.
