Watching CBS' Monday block right now, and not only is Craig Ferguson hosting the block along with Paris Hilton (who's guesting tonight), there's constant commercials. Ouch.
Hope for the best for Jimmy. And those who are looking to bash him, remember, Conan got it 5000x worse back in '93...

Ferguson is wasting his time. Everyone is gonna watch Fallon tonight out of curoisty.

Advice for Jimmy Fallon: Be yourself, but don't overdo the tech
Fallon begins his "Late Night" ride tonight touting himself as the biggest tech talk show host ever, from his use of Skype, Twitter and Facebook to having Digg guests. But Tim Goodman cautions that Fallon shouldn't overly rely on technology: "We all love the Internet. But just because someone sends you a tweet on Twitter doesn't make it compelling. If you can use technology in some interesting or funny way, awesome. If not, you'll look like you're trying too hard." Goodman also advises that Fallon not try too hard: "Think about it this way: If you're going to get fired - and there's a heap of pretty funny people who never made it as talk show hosts - then go out on your terms, doing sketches and having guests and musicians you wanted."

Lorne Michaels gives Jimmy Fallon some last-minute advice
"The worst that could happen is that it's very, very bad," Michaels, "Late Night's" exec producer, tells Fallon in the last of his Webisodes. Michaels says he's "confident" in Fallon, pointing out that he has gotten "progressively better" with each test show. "By the end of next week, this time next week, we should know a little bit," says Michaels. "We won't know a lot for at least months." If the show does fail, Michaels says, "you can just blame the economy."

Is he gonna use that same excuse for his failed career?

Lorne Michaels has had a failed career?

I was talking about Fallon.

Ah that's what I thought until I read way too much into it. My bad. I'm actually curious about the theme song mostly, I think it goes a long way to have a good theme to hook people from the start.
-
The Roots are awesome. Slow Jam to the News has been the highlight so far.
-
So...instead of a comedy bit he had people lick stuff for $10 bucks.
-
Well, his first interview's going okay. I liked De Niro's impersonation of Fallon.
You can tell Jimmy's trying his very hardest not to laugh at every joke he makes. Glad to see he's working on that.
Liked the beginning with Conan too.

A little to much reliance on the skits.

Okay? That was a train wreck, man. Fallon went from people licking stuff to ackward De Niro interview.

Space Train? It's only been 45 minutes and this show has already jumped the shark.

Well, I didn't think it was bad, but that could be because 1.) De Niro was a pretty good sport and 2.) I'm giving Fallon some slack because it's show #1.
Either way, I'm not liking it too much, but I don't want to speak too soon because that was the first reaction to Conan's debut too, wasn't it?
-
I'm not even going to stick around for the second interview. The only funny part so far was the beginning skit with Conan. His jokes all bombed, and slow jamming to it didn't make them any funnier. The licking for ten thing just seemed to be an excuse for product placement. I can't believe he told a story about himself during the DeNiro interview. Isn't the interviewie supposed to be the one telling stories? I didn't even get the Space Train sketch. What was the joke?

Conan's first show is online. It's easy to find. And you know what...it was pretty good. The biggest problem was that Conan was very nervous and it hurt the show. You have to remember that he was a comedy writer and not a performer. The writing on that first episode was great. The performance was bad. So, I'd say it was a C+ show. Fallon was a D-.

Well, now that it's over...
The sketches weren't funny, especially the people licking things, if that can even be called a sketch. De Niro was wasted, no lie, but Timberlake's interview was better and less awkward. I'll watch this week because I want to wait until a few episodes have passed so that the first show jitters are gone. Plus, he does have a nice line-up (I'm expecting Barrymore's interview to be enjoyable since her and Fallon already know each other pretty well), but at the rate it's going, I won't be back next week.

I recognized announcer Steve Higgins from some of the SNL audience sketches and I believe he occasionally does some announcing on the sketches.
It took Jimmy only four minutes to laugh at his own joke. I know all the late night guys do this, but Jimmy's reputation he should have tried harder not to. I don't know if there is a bit of audience fault in there, but those jokes bombed hard as a collective group.
I think it's pretty clear the licking stuff for $10 was product placement. The way it was done was a bit funny, but you can tell they paid something to have their product appear.
De Niro didn't really do much, but you could tell Jimmy was comfortable with Justin Timberlake out there. They had some fun, I did more or less enjoy that.
I liked Craig better than Conan and with Jimmy there is no contest. I will only be back when he has a guest I really want to see.

That Jimmy Fallon made a bad movie? Wait, they could have just shown a clip from Taxi.

It's sad but Last Call with Carson Daly is better than this!
