    Sorta Lame MIB News

    Like This Thread!
So, who likes those worms in the MIB cartoons? Yeah, neither do I. They're not funny and are extremely lame. Anyways, the movie is taking note from the cartoon. The worms will be more predomiant in the sequel. Check it out:

This week's Entertainment Weekly features some comments by makeup artist Rick Baker regarding the now-filming Men In Black 2. "The big lead baddie is a female alien -- and we're doing a number of other female creatures for this one as well," Baker told EW. Famke Janssen is on board to play the femme fatale in question.

Baker also tells fans to look for some old favorites to return. "The worm guys from the first film are coming back in a big way. They're practically the stars of the movie."

Hmm, me no like. Although the worms were a good alien design, I don't really like em. The joke about them being obssesed with coffee is lame. They did get a good scene in the movie though, the one where Zed yells at them for leaving planet with a large supply of ciggaretes and they reply with "Shove it, Zed". So this sounds bad. I'd prefer to see newer aliens, especially if they're as interesting as the ones in the series.

That was possibly the only good scene with them. Well, that episode where Jay & one of the Worms get mixed up was an ok ep for them, but other than that, they're just useless an dnot funny. They're MIB's answer to Jar Jar Binks.

    Well....

...Zed did try to have them deported after the incident with the exploding nuclear reactor, but J fought for them and helped catch the real culprit (the whacko alien janitor). Otherwise the little grubs would be crawling on the dust of their homeworld by now.
Though they can be irksome the way they butt into everything and don't seem to contribute anything practical to MIB. Then again, certain worms are parasitic in nature....

They'r enot parasitic, just anoying. I mean, how many times can they mis-interprit a location for a coffee site? It's getting just ridiculous.

    Worms and Frank the Pug

Both are examples of sidekick characters taken to the extreme because some brilliant exec thinks they add great humor to every story. I found both Frank and the worms tolerable only in small doses, but they were usually given huge subplots or prominant roles in most MIB stories. Probably the reason why MIB never grabbed me like Sony sister program Godzilla:TS.

Re: Worms and Frank the Pug

Now all MIB:The Series fans are probably going to hate me, and this will sound weird but even though it was a visual improvement, I didn't like the animation change at all. And once it happened, I found it much more difficult to find episodes I liked, and that were provoking and original like in the first season.

The animation is great, but the stories weren't as original and cool as they were before the change. We got a couple of true to form winners, but the rest were average.

And I also seem to be the only one who thought the original voice for K was much smoother and more fitting. He just had this slickness and overall attitude that fit perfectly with how good the stories were.

So I think the old K voice equals the stories of the time, as do I the new K voice for the new stories after the animation change. He does well, but sometimes it's a bit fuzzy. And he smiles a genuine smile more than the first one used to.

Unfortunately I have yet to find someone who agrees with me. Let the search continue. lol

My analysis of MIB2 will be short and brief. Why? We've seen the whole sidekick phenomenon before and how it ruins a movie. So I fear very much for MIB2.

Nightwing, I have to agree with you on Kay's voice actor. While Gregg Berger, the current VA does a pretty good job with the character, I feel that Ed O'Ross, his VA from Season 1 did a much better job. I read an older article on Comic Book Continuum, where Duane Capazzi said "We wanted to bring some of the Tommy Lee Jones' kind of twang to the role." Here's the link to the full article (and btw, there's really cool wallpaper from the cartoon!):

As for the change in animation - I don't really have a preference, both do look good to me! Although it did seem that some of the characters' face looked a little bit more expressive in the older style at times.

I like the Worm Guys, but I agree with others that they have been just a tad overused as of late.

And finally, I just wanted to say hello to everyone - it's my first day on the board! ^_^

And a hearty WELCOME to you!

But I'll keep my opinions of MiB to myself.

Welcome Avran! I really like your avatar. I like the new voice for some reason. While I liked how the original voice was so dead pan, but the new voice is a bit better I think. It's mor einviting. And the new animaiton is so much smoother and better. While I dislike the digital coloring from this season, season 2 and 3 have been steller. The animation in season one was so jumpy, and didn't seem right. The show really hit it's stride in season 2 and the beginning of season 3.

Can't believe 4 seasons of great stories are ending tomorrow.
